Tryed to start my car last night and nothing happened, tryed over 10 times and was locking and unlocking the doors to try and see if it was anything to do with the imoboliser, then just as i was about to ring the AA i tryied it one last time and it started.

Has any one else had this problem, could it be an elecrical issue?

Cheers
Rob.

very strange it just worked if its ecu/ immobiliser based?

could be anything from a loose wire to somthing like a starter motor. on older motors tho didnt they click rapidly when failing? a single click?

id think twice before tampering mate as voltages are high with ignition.

where r u based? maybe find a close member with vag com who can check for fault codes... if clean that may mean the immobiliser is in the clear.

perhaps next time you could get the bonnet up and try to locate the click. with your ears tho i wouldnt touch.

also if you cant start her you could try disconnecting the battery for 10 mins. if the ecu has logged a fault it will forget it and if its an intermittant one hopfully it should start.

bear in mind mate im no mechy;)

Think your right mate, remember my old corsa clicking rapidly when that went. It is just a single click, did seem to be comeing from the frount of the engine.

I'll have a word with mate at volkswagen, would of thought he'd have VAG-COM.

I'll have to remember to disconect the battery next time, not thought of doing that before. cheers.

I know this is old now, but my FR has just done the same thing tonight. Went to start it after work, nothing, just dash lights etc. Bump started it and took it straight over White Dove. The fitter came out and said the wires had snapped on the starter motor. Common thing apparently. Suppose they do move about a bit the engines. Will hopefully get it back tomorrow.

No probs like. I couldn't believe it when it happened. You don't expect anything to go wrong with your car do you lol. Seems quite a common thing mind, wires are just long enough to cope. Hope you get it sorted mate

oh yea, forgot id seen a thread on this, i'll have a day at the garage and have a look at that as well, cheers. Need to try and track down a steering rack as well, any one no if they can be reconditioned or if theres an aftermarket part?
