hello all i am in need of some help

i drove all the way down to kent with out one problem (except stalling it just as i left home lol) and when i got to the track i parked up and left my car..

when i went back to my car about 10 mins later i put the key in to move it and the bloody thing wouldnt start. it was ticking over but no actually starting.

some one in a red mk3 (thanks buddy but forgotten ur name) plugged in his seat diagnostic machine and it dont come up with any faults. we checked all the fuses there all fine.

after leaving it about an hour or more we went back to the car and it started no straight away like it use to... maybe roll over 4 or 5 times before starting... wasnt going to complain at least iw as getting home. :)

i decided maybe it was a dodgy batch of fuel.. so i stopped at a garage and filled up with some shell extra. and it was back at square one... wouldnt start properly rolled over about 8 or 9 times before starting.

got home at 4 this morning left the car.. and went back to it earlier as i needed to go out EXACTLY the same as before not starting proper...

what do u think it could be?? any one :( please help me

Smee

p.s it just done 9200 miles :(

The Starter motor cable is a common proble. Sorted by the AA man on my old 1.8T, But that would'nt turn over obviously so does'nt sound like that on yours as you say it is turning over.

let us know what SEAT say

thanks for the advice... ill get it booked in asap shame they wasnt open today :(

i really dunno what it can be.. its really pissing me off tho.. its like its either not getting enough juice or the glow plugs arent doing the job right thats all i can think off.. but surely that would show on a diag machine

If the engine's turning over OK then it's nowt to do with the starter...

A faulty sensor (temp or otherwise) sounds plausible...

Won't be the ignition switch either, as the engine is turning over.

And, to be pedantic, we don't have an "ignition" switch on a diesel, not sure what else you'd call it though :)

If you had access to vag-com you could check what coolant temp is being reported to the ECU, see if it looks sensible or not.

So are there pixies at the end of the ignition barrel that detect theres a key in there and it wants to start? :p

yea but it detects the key.. as the imob isnt stopping me from starting... and the key turns so it knows the key is in it... its got to be a sensor or switch
