Start problems - faulty immobiliser?HELP PLEASE!!!!!!

I own a 2000 W reg Ibiza sport. A week ago I went to start my car and it started for about a second and died, I kept trying and it just did the same. the AA came and looked and got the car going. He has informed me it is something to do with my immobiliser. My car wont start now and I feel like I've lost a leg!

The immobiliser light on my dashboard is not flashing, and the transponder, and my key are working fine. It seems that if I fddle with the cables behind it sometimes work. which seems like a loose connection.

It definately isn't a relay, and definately isn't the fuel pump, so seems to be electrical.

Not sure if it is related, but I have had my stereo out a lot recently, does anyone know if there are any connections around this area that I may have knocked out that could be causing this problem

HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CHEERS JAMES

Had a similar fault with mine,it turned out to be the ignition switch.the part was only £24 but was a bitch to fit.Part No is 6N0905865,seems to be a common fault 'cos the storeman knew the part No of the top of his head!and they had plenty in stock.
Hope this helps

cheers for your reply mate, I have been told it could be the ignition switch bu someone else previously, so that sounds quite promising, I'll go get one tommorrow.why was it such a bitch to fit? did you find an instructions, or does it come with any? cheers. James

Unfortunately no instructions. From memory:-
Battery disconnect,Airbag removed,Strng wheel off, splined collar off, column shrouds off, stalks off, disconnect all multi plugs, ignition assy off.ign starter switch is held in place by screw at base of switch. Then in the best tradition of Haynes "simply refit in reverse order"!!!.
The only pain was once the splined collar came off the steering shaft droppped down which made it quite hard to get the collar back on.
Hope this helps.
