Hi,

Has anyone else found that the standard Mk2 Ibiza Grundig Headunit is s**t at holding an FM signal! Seams to be great with AM singnals from obscure places in europe!!!

Its really narking me now! - other than obviously replacing it is there something I can do to improve things?

Cheers

I can't get an am or FM radio signal at all....

I don't know if theres a problems with the aerial etc....

just play CD's all the time, which is annoying when you can't hear the footie :(

I've got a new pioneer headunit too

Not good news!!!

"Sounds" like an arial type thing - I read that as standard theres an inline amplifier that requires a specific wiring harness in order to be connected with an aftermarket headunit!??

I heard of this too......but being honest i've never bothered trying to find out whats up....

I'd got the lazy route and save for the DAB adapter for my pioneer.....save any hassles :D

Radios crap apart from footie any way lol

its a line in adapter as said that you need to boost the fm reception... although it really doesnt do all that much.

i discovered it after a bit of research. the grundig unit has a built in amplifier but this is lost when you put a new head unit in, so the reception is rubbish. you can buy them from halfords bout 15 pounds or ebay bout a fiver.

wouldnt pay halfords price like, but a fiver to me didnt seem too bad, but the difference is not very much at all

Had a similar problem on my golf with poor reception, turned out to be a dodgy connection on the arial end of things. With the cars I've had I've found people always remove the arial for whatever reason and then screw up the re-fitting.
