Hello,
I am curious to hear people's views on how much of a difference/improvement there would be between a stage 1 generic remap and a custom remap with decat and downpipe upgrade on a LC 180?

I know the figures are roughly:

210hp generic vs 225hp decat and downpipe custom remap

But I know bhp figures aren't everything; is the extra money to go custom worth it performance wise? Or is there not much noticeable improvement? I basically looks like a comparison between stock exhaust and uprated if ya get me.

Cheers
Dan

massive, higher torque band, i pulled 228 on a p-torque stage 2 and the power is immense mate, well worth it imo.

make sure you uprate the dv thought to hold boost.

do other mods before you go stage 2, i.e t.i.p, dv, induction and dp and sport/decat.

I agree with James. Torque will be higher and held longer meaning a larger power band and a car that is much better to drive.

I also made 229bhp and 244lb/ft with my stage 2 P-Torque.

***, just the types of responses I wanted to hear.

James, I already have a Forge 007p fitted, and CAI. DP and decat is being fitted on the day like yours was (I found your thread in the P-torque section on how pleased you were ;) ) so I'm expecting around 225hp like you guys.

Got the Leon booked in for this coming Monday so I will post my results - keep an eye out :p

Do you have a front mount intercooler mate?

If not you will struggle to holt power at the top end.

Yeah I was told I'd be expecting around 230-235hp with FMIC :)

I'm sure though that upgrading the decat, downpipe, DV, and induction with a remap will give substantial improvements...? I don't like having any doubt in my mind see :(

If I wer you I would get the fmic over the down pipe/decat. I made my power with the standard exhaust on but the mk4 cupra has the large seat sport fmic

I can't afford the extra atm mate. Decat and downpipe is roughly £100, FMIC is easily over 4 times that. I've already got the decat and downpipe ready to go on. I'm planning to install a FMIC later this year which will hopefully allow me to hold the power better, but for now I'm hoping the mods I mentioned in my post above will make me happy.

Fair enough mate. If you already have them get them on before you go for the map so you can tell if they made a difference to how it drive or gives any more power.

What ever setup you have Will will get the best out of it for you. The drive home will be nice :D I hade a 4+ hour drive back after getting my stage 2. Was fun.

lol thanks mate. I only got about an hour's drive there, maybe less.

I'm getting the decat and downpipe fitted at P-torque rather than before, because the lambda needs to be removed from the ECU which Will is doing with the stage 2 :)

Throttle response was the biggest change for me. All the back pressure is gone from the turbo, so it spins up much faster. Sat at idle now, if i blip the throttle, i can hear the turbo spin up and the DV chirp in that second or so. The difference when driving is immense.

Did pull over 230bhp on a cold day when the fuelling was slightly off, that is with standard intake and cooling setup. Torque was massive that day at 270 ft/lbs!!!!
