Hallo. Done a search before this, found plenty of squeeky seats, engine mounts and the like.. but this is a little different. When the engine is on, idleing and driving, i have a sound not unlike two squirrels having intercourse under my bonnet.

The noise is constant, but fractured.. like a squirrel laughing ¬_¬

It appears to be coming from the driver side, near the clicking carbon filter noise. It's been there for a few weeks now and APPEARS to be coming from a belt.

Before I drive to Colchester's SEAT dealership, anyone got an inkling about what this could be?

Thanks

I think it could be the idler pully, now you've said that.. mate. Hmm... I rememebr some time ago you could get chalk-like stuff to stop belts squeeking. I'll try tinker about with it.

Anyone else got any other possible causes?

Ta Peter.

The fan belt will run round it. I'm not sure if they mean the actuak tensioner itself?

a quick fix for this and to diagnose where its coming from is to spray wd40 on like has been said, and this will point you in the right direction. Bear in mind this will only be temporary, may only last a few seconds! At least from this you'll know if its in the belt/pulley area.
