Squeaky Passenger Door

Hey all

As per the title really - my front left hand door has developed a rather annoying squeak. Not a rattle, definitely a squeak. And worse still, it's intermittent. It can vanish for days, then reappear and stay for a while, squeaking on loud bass notes of the speaker or bumps.

When you examine it stationary, if the squeak is present, it is encouraged by moving the main door grab handle and basically yanking at the panel. Sometimes it seems if you do this while driving it can stop the squeak.

Any ideas? How much of a mission is taking off the door panel (and getting it back on of course)? Shall I just take it to Seat?

Also the central AC vents have a pretty much permanent but subtle rattle - this is a common one isn't it?

Cheers

Rob

If its still under warranty I'd take it into the dealers. They ended up adding load of extra padding to various bits on mine to stop squeaks and rattles.

Nobody got any suggestions for this please? :-(

I have searched but can't find anything.

Cheers

rob, try a little wd40 on the squeak.
i had the same issue exactly..it drove me nuts.
i took the risk of ruining the doors inner trim but a little little wd 40 helped.
it's not squeaked from that day.

Having asked Seat to look at this twice now and both times it's come back unfixed, I think the time has come for me to have a go at it. How easy is taking the door card and interior bits off? I am pretty hamfisted but I don't think it can be anything more complicated than a loose screw or something.

To be honest I don't believe Seat actually took the cards off, I reckon they just greased the hinges, even though I showed them it clearly was something from the door panel.

Any tips would be appreciated.

cheers
