Hi all,

Im a newbie on here,
Im living in Spain for two years and have just looked at a Seat Leon Mk1 20VT yr 2000 model,

Im happy with the car except for one thing,
when started up the fan belt squeaked, the owner put a bar of soap?? against it and it stopped squeaking instantly and didnt start squeakin again, he claimed it was the heat that caused it (it was 40 odd degrees at the time).
The car is a year 2000 Seat Leon 20VT, one owner from new, its got 103k kms on the clock and full service history, it had its last service on 17.02.2007 and its ITV (Spanish MOT) in june so im thinking if the problem was serious it should of been picked up then??

Can anyone offer any advice on whether its just the belt or is it a symptom of a nasty/costly repair bill ie.... water pump, alternator pully?

Im completley new to Seats and this will be my first one, ive tried searching but cant seem to find anything that answers my question,

Im due to buy the car on friday and am looking for any advice on the above or any other common faults that I should keep my eye out for,

Many thanks in advance

Liam

Thanks DJP,
My eyes rolled pretty similar to the smiley when he said it was the heat!

I dont mind putting a new belt on but would be gutted if it was something more serious

Cheers
