So tonight was driving down a nice 30mph road pottering along in my leon some audi flies up my arse and stays there so I thought soon as it hits national I'm flooring it. Got to national zone 2nd gear at about 25mph foot down upto 5.5k rpm then changed into third and foot back down again my only issue is when I released the clutch and put the accelerator down I heard a squeak come from the front end. Panicking I slowed down let the audi pass and for about 15 mins tried to replicate the noise.

Only seems to happen when I change gear fast and let the clutch out quickly applying gas straight away doesn't happen normal driving and changing gear only when shifting quickly. Had a search that turned up nothing couldn't find anything useful on Google people have this problem in a few different cars I'm just wondering if anyone has any knowledge or could shed some light onto this for me?

Thanks in advance

At this moment my friend it could be anything lol... It could be because it seemed to happen as soon as the gas was applied after clutch let off... either way I will not be repeating it

You may even find its just your tyres squeeling, iv done that once or twice when really giving it the beans and changing fast :)

It's deffo not clutch slip as the clutch would seem fairly new... but it could be the tyres I only don't think it is because (I'm really soft on clutch when setting off) when I set off sometimes at like 1100 rpm if the revs dip below 1k I can hear the same squeaking noise which does lead me to believe it's the alternator belt ill be getting it replaced soon. Along with timing belt rocker cover gasket thermostat full service and mot... expensive month!!

Mine does the same thing and spent ages trying to search through forums before to look for a potential answer. Mine is also usually when changing to 3rd. Can I ask, how would you describe the sound? When I took mine to the dealer (they found nothing apparently) I described it as almost like a windscreen wiper scraping over a dry windscreen. Is that the same as yours?

Sounds like mine did pal... aux belt fixed the problem now it's smooth sailing... mine used to do it when I nearly stalled it setting off as I use very low rpm usually 1100-1200 on a hill... but yeah aux belt fixed it for me... cousin pulled other off and laughed said there's nothing wrong the belt looked new but you could see it was sort of glazed over where the other was fresh... get it done as it's not expensive anyway pal... solved my problem =D

Awesome, thanks. Glad it's (probably) nothing more serious. Getting the belt replaced at the MOT in February so look forward to not having to adjust my gear changes through third. Mine always seemed to do it at low rpm also, normally when I was in traffic and shifting into 3rd at quite a slow speed.
