Spoiler Removal from the boot lid

Hi all,

I have recently bought a boot lid with the spoiler attached to it for my Ibiza Cupra 6J (there was no genuine ones for sale around the time so done this and will resell the boot lid back on after) and was wondering what people have used to get it off without damaging the spoiler and boot itself?

Think it has been stuck on with Tiger Seal so will need something pretty strong to get it off.

Thanks!

I've seen people recomend cuting it off with a sharp flat blade... I wouldn't trust myself not to scratch the paintwork. Have you got a picture of it?

Its a PU adhesive sealant so will dissolve or loosen up with a strong solvent, the same solvent may also affect your paintwork though. Acetone, petrol and the like would work but I'd try dental floss to see if you can cut it off first.

Could try some braided fishing line.

Haven't got any pictures of it as it is in my mates shed at the minute but we tried cutting wire yesterday with some tar and glue remover but did not get us very far...

Think the only way would be with a strong solvent but try not too overdo it and ruin the paintwork, will probably give acetone a try the weekend, wish me luck...:D
