Splitter question

When I bought my LCR 2 and a half months ago it did not have splitter on it. I embarassed to say that I did not realise that it was supposed to have one (no sniggering at the back) however having done some searching on here I discovered that it was!

Now while I do think it does make the front look better, I am unsure whether I should get one. The reason being all the stories about them being scraped on speed bumps, in car parks etc. etc. Thus far I have not had any problems scraping my bumper as it is.

I live on a narrow street so I usually park with 2 wheels on the kerb to avoid the little scrapes and knocks that my old car used to regularly pick up. I am wondering if I got a splitter whether mounting the curb is going to be a problem.

Just after opinions really, as I've never driven an LCR with a splitter on!

It's worth putting it on, even if it's just to protect the very expensive bumper. Better to damage a £20 bit of plastic than a £300+ bumper with respray.

Put it on! I'd rather hit and scuff up a £20 bit of plastic than my nicely painted bumper! And once you get used to the height at the front you soon adapt to speed bumps and kerbs.

They look great, but you will scuff it and you'll be sorry.

But they're only £20-ish to replace, just be careful.

This truly is a thread from the dead (which I started!). For the record I now have a splitter and it does finish off the front end nicely. Just hope it lasts for a while....

I bought the car with a badly scuffed up splitter. But no worries. I'll replace it if and when I rip the splitter clean off, otherwise there's not a lot of point!

It's kinda weird. As an ex work colleague had an old pre facelift Cupra, and he could take those shitty rounded speed humps at stupid speeds and never once grounded the front. Every time he drove over one I cringed and waited for the CRUNCH that never happened.

With the LCR it, craps it's pants when you even point it at an uneven surface! :)
