Hi, my audi tt comp alloys are being refurbed in grey so I was looking to split the cover off the rear lights and spray the inards the same colour. I have done this many times in the past on fiestas I have owned but when I tried on the beeza no mater how much heat I put into them with the heat gun the cover was to brittle to prise off and was just chipping at the edges.
Has anyone successfuly done this? if so how? or does anyone know if the actual plastic lense are available as a seperate part from dealers? so i could break the old one to get it off?
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

Does NOT work someone on here tried it and they just ended up broken (with a spare from a scrap yard thou!) they do not have the right sealant inside them. I used to have a fiesta dn using a hair drier heated them up and took the orange indicator bit out, but I tried this with these light and it does not work at all!

Might have to pop down the scrap yard and see if they have a spare...

Mate of mine did a similar thing with his Scooby headlamps to "de-tango" it.

if the lamps are cheap from the scrapper I will give it a go.

I want to body colour mine.....

I pondered doing this not long ago to colour code the background of the lamp so they look like toyota supra rear lights! :p let us know if you do give it a go.

yes you can buy them, not the same stuff in the rear lights anyway I remember it only took 5 mins with a hairdryer and they came apart with my fiesta these do not budge I tried and think it would have ended up with me snapping them

Yep as said above you can't split the rear lights. It was me that bought a light from a scrappy to try and take apart. No matter how much heat you put into the seal it will not peel apart. It'll just snap all around the edge which will mess up the lense. I tried the oven trick too with no luck.

The only other way I could think of is to cut apart the rear housing...spray the bits you want and then plastic weld it all back together.

so his Dad just did what Altech has said (shame they look chrome thou!) I would not want to butcher my light like that is could easily go wrong and they are really expensive. Scrappy ones then yeh try it why not then!
The heating up method does not work thou so maybe try this.
