Speaker upgrade

I have some pictures of the rear of the current speakers:

I am wanting to upgrade my front speakers, but I don't really know how to go about it.

Tried to measure the size of the speaker, but it was over 5 1/2 inches.

Would I need adaptors to fit aftermarket speakers in?

Yeah you need some Autoleads adaptors, which are about £10.

Then you can fit 16.5cm components.

Sorry, 6.5" components, or 17cm.

I am still confused over all this coaxial and component...

If I get coaxial, will that mean that the sound is ruined because there is a tweeter down low and up high (the standard one).
I need to get a coaxial because I can't afford good component speakers, unless I can get component speakers without the tweeters, which I haven't seen yet...

Component speakers mean that you get a subwoofer and a tweeter, whereas coaxial speakers combine the two.

I think that you could get a pair of coaxial speakers for the front and leave the standard tweeters in, I seem to remember someone else on here mentioning that's what they've done.

Try and get ones with built in tweeters as there bound to be better than the standard ones. I got Vibe SA60's in mine which are quality but around £60. And yes you need to purchase some speaker pods to enable you to fit aftermarket speakers, as above only about £10 from Autoleads

My tweeters are built in to the speakers and they still kick out clear as day even being low down like they are

Oh an when changing them DONT pull off the speaker grills,although they look like thats how to access the speakers its not, you need to take off the door panel to do it. You may want to get some spare trim panel clips as they have a tendancy to break when you take the panel off
