Space Saver Wheel

Hi,

I'm buying an Altea and it doesn't come with a space saver wheel. Does anyone know where I can buy a space saver from? I'm reluctant to go to the dealer, but will do if there is no alternative.

Thanks in advance.

ebays the place for them i personally opted for a 15" wheel and tyre of a alambra i was breaking overall wheel diameter is the same and it fits a treat its just a personal thing but i arnt a big fan of space savers and tyre weld is beyond me what happens if you get a blow out and dont have road side assistance not worth a the hastle in my opinion

Bought the Altea 1.9 TDi ref sport 3 years ago and only got the glue stuff. Dealer asked for 170 quid for spacesaver and fitting. Looked on e bay for an alloy to match, got one for £25 and put a budget radial on for £45. Then the problem was where to put jack. Got a box that fits in the spare from a Fabia(same box as Ibiza) from the breakers and made some minor adjustments on the bottom with a stanley knife. Put the jack in and associated bits, fastened down and bobs your uncle. Once the floor tray is down you can't see the lump around the wheel,(not as good as the dealer bits but less expensive) but you're not relying on the goo stuff. Did it all for £80 and a full size wheel. If you want some pics, PM me with your e mail and I'll forward

the altea normal sized wheels are 16 inch, but because the spacesaver tyre is thinner than a normal tyre the wheel size has to be bigger.....hence 18 inch

yep it depends on the size of the front disc brake really though you should be able to circumvent that since if you have a 16" space saver wheel and get a flat tyre on the front wheel (fitted with larger disc) move you rear wheel to the front and put the space saver on the back.

Thanks for the offer twnewcastle, I've not had a chance to check back often this week or else I probably would have taken you up on your offer. However, I'm now sorted. Thanks for the replies.

I had the same dilema a couple of years ago. Had the liquid seal and compressor but no wheel. Felt unsecure about no spare wheel as i had one for the caravan and luggage trailer, the latter which had a blow out when it hit a piece of glass.

Tried ebay but never won a bid. Tried breakers but could not find one. Found that Seat use different pitch centre diameter holes to Audi & VW. Only a couple of mm difference but obviously important. Anyway had to get one therefore paid the dealer the £180ish htey wanted. Pleased t osay not had to use it but it is there for peace of mind. I know you can put a regular size tyre in but it adds weight and takes up valuable space from the lower boot floor.

Hope you can source a second hand one to save pressure on the wallet.
