Hi
At the start of April I placed an order for a Seat Altea XL 1.6TDI 105 SE 5D DSG, in Luna Grey, one of the things I checked was did the car come with a spare wheel. The salesman explained the car would come with a space saver tyre and wheel, demonstrated one fitted in the boot of a Altea in the show room and pointed out the item was standard equipment on the SE and was listed as such in the November 10 brochure.
In the middle of July we picked up the car and we were told the car had gone from a model year 10 to a model year 11. The salesman now offered us a brochure dated June 11 to look at. I noted a space saving spare wheel was still as standard and now had a tyre repair kit as well. The colour of the car looked like Ice Silver (CODE p5p5). The colour code listed in the boot is LX7W !
Unfortunately on inspection the car only had a tyre repair kit, despite a space saving spare wheel being listed as standard fitting. The salesman agreed that according to the 2010/2011 brochures one should be fitted, but most cars had been arriving from Seat with just a tyre repair kit fitted. The salesman offered to try and supply a space saving spare wheel the cost to be Seat’s or the Dealers.
A week later I contacted Seat customer support and was informed space saving spare wheels were in very sort supply (as in they had none) and the factory was sending out cars with tyre repair kits to keep production going. Once space saving spare wheels were available our dealer would contact us to have one fitted.
Three weeks later I again contacted Seat customer support and was now informed the space saving spare wheels are still unavailable and Seat had now made the decision not to supply them to dealers to fit to cars as those cars would now have to make do with the tyre repair kit. The lady then pointed out Seat reserves the right to make changes to the specifications and colours without notice.
Questions I have are:
Should the car have been delivered with a space saving spare and tyre repair kit fitted as listed in June 11 brochure?
Am I now dependent on the good will of the dealer to supply a space saving spare and tyre, jack and other bits?
What colour car have I got, the colour code LX7W is not listed in 2010/2011 brochures?
How can I tell what model year Altea I have?
Thanks in advance.
Note: Other than the above the car has been a real hit with the family, the duel air con has stopped the wife complaining I have it set to cold. The DSG 7 speed gear box is brilliant, my last car was a Zafira 2.2 Auto which averaged 26mpg, so far the Altea has managed 43mpg.
