Sorry boys and girls, but after little over a year's ownership of the 225 05 reg black beast (Jabba remapped to 280bhp) I have got rid of it and moved on to pastures new.

The replacement? A 53 registration RS Focus, low mileage, good example etc.

I just couldn't face the devaulation/residual situation anymore... Bought the LCR for 18K a year ago (brand new) and a few months later SEAT were giving them away, brand new for three grand less. I even thought about selling and just buying an old LCR but change cars quicker than my under-garments.

I got a cracking deal with the Part-ex on the Leon and thus I am hoping for a better result with a used RS. All being well, the residuals on the RS should be better (fingers crossed a new RS is a long long way away!) After researching, I found that some RS Focuses are going for MORE money than brand new STs on Autotrader!!! Crazy!

I test drove the car today and really liked it. I can't remember the car's performance pre-remap on the Leon, but I hasten to add that the LCR as it is at present would annihalate the Focus. The RS is, of course, still standard, but I may consider remapping once I get it. Then again, I may leave it as standard to retain its collectibility. I dunno. All in all, I just think that it's a nice looking car and I have wanted one for a while now. I can't be bothered writing a full review at present, but it's a good car - but the Leon will, of course, be dearly missed.

One of my biggest car regrets was buying my Audi S3 2 years back. 21 years old, 21 grand to burn and I went for the Audi. At the time, I considered the Focus and I have had the urge to get one since. I think this car will bridge that gap between now and that golden age of 25 when my insurance may (just may) get a little cheaper!

Well, I thank you all for your help, assistance and friendship here on SCN. I hate to sound so final as I will be back every day checking up on you all.

Mate dont think insurance magically drops at 25 as it doesnt, its an 80's myth, in fact it will probably go up :)

RS is a good choice i prefer them to the ST's and they are limited edition (the RS's) so with any luck in a few years it would have gone up in value. The ST is more common than a corsa at the moment i see them everywhere

just being to jennings ford, went to look for an RS focus, but they had none, so saw the ST-2 in orange 3dr, they had one left, but by the time they sorted out a price for 8k finance someone else had bought it, last one in the area too, but now when i think they did me a favour, just thinking fook 8k on finance, so might go back to see if i can find an rs, for 14k or somthing, like rocky horse **** to find from a dealer

It was 17K.

However, the STs (ST2) used with just a couple of thousand on the clock are going for a similar price.

Some RS Focuses (Foci???) are still 18K! You can't really find one for under 15.

Nice car (we need pic's tho ;) )

Must admit I thought they were more £15k than £17k now.....

If my mileage was fairly low I'd still love a tuned Escort Cossie

Hi fellas,

Just noticed - it was 16K, but I was a grand in negative equity - damn residuals.

It is advertised here: http://www.red-line-racing.co.uk/motor_details.asp?Id=509

I pick it up tomorrow so will definitely post some more pics up once it's all waxed etc.

Go on Autotrader on search nationally on the Focus (price high-low). At the top end there are a few new ST2s and then a few pages in, there are scattered RS Focuses around 18-17. They are mixed in with low mileage STs. Both the RS and ST are lovely cars, but the ST just doesn't float my boat as much.

I must admit every time I see an RS Focus I want one more and more. I think they're ageing really well (much like the Escort Cossie did). Gotta love those wide arches and big bumpers. Shame about the interior though....

like the interior, and theres 2 in the trader this week, one 11k and another 11.5k, not many miles either, one in a dealer 2 for 14.7k

1300?

I wish my insurance was that cheap; mine's over 2K but I am 23, living in Manchester, have only one year's NCB (crashed the S3 unfortunately) and an SP30.
