Solenoid Valve Issue

Hi All,

I'm in desperate need of some advice regarding an issue with the Emmissions related Solenoid control valve for my MK4 Ibiza 1.9 TDi FR (30K miles on clock, 2006 face lift model).

The valve stuck open just before Xmas after I stupidly stalled the car pulling away at my works car park. My local Seat specialist managed to resent the EML and the valve but said that if the issue reoccures that I would need to get the valve replaced at a cost (inc labour) of around £200.

It seems that the issue has occured again in this ridiculously cold weather. The car is completely driveable and does show the same simptoms as before other than the EML light being on permanently.

Has anyone had this issue also and how did you resolve it?

I'd rather not spend £200 sorting the issue considering that most of the cost is labour and I'm assuming that the Solenoid Valve is pretty cheap.

A mate has offered to do the labour if I can purchase a valve from JKM Performance.

Any help and advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Stu

you would get a better response if you named the car/year and for pref' engine code/milage, assuming it's petrol and if you are not paying a labour bill I would try to clean it and check the diaphram if it's vac operated :)

I assume it's the "standard" vac operated one on this engine so check the vac line and diaphram if Ok take off the egr and clean if there's no sign of oil leaking out of the two breathe holes (front and back below the "flying saucer" ) it should be reusable take a look in the derv section plenty in there re; gaskets blanking plates etc milage is a bit low for clogging but they seem to vary:) ps when removing the pipe for the antishudder diaphram cut and rejoin if you pull it off it is very likely to break off and they're not easy to get
