Hi

After 2.5 years of ownership, i have sold my Ibiza

http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=119578

I hated seeing the new ownder drive off with my car, i had such great fun with it.

I now have to drive my mums 1.0 Yaris :censored: until my exams are over in June, then i will concentrate on buying a new car.

I have two choices, either an E46 BMW 330CD M Sport or the new Audi S3 :funk:

I like the idea of the S3, but it is much more expensive than the 330CD (by about 10k).

What would you do???

Personally if you want a car for running up and down the A roads and motorway then the Beemer is the choice. However, if you want the all round drivers package ie the drivers car then it has to be the S3

That was i nice looking car you had there. Going up in the world a fair though from a Ibiza to a new S3. Take it things are going well in your life.:)

Yeah cheers mike :D TBH i'm looking to splash out on at leat one nice thing before i do the sensible get a house/wife/kids that inevitably happens to everyone as they get older :( If i do get an S3, its going to be in white, with the bucket seats :funk: :funk:

I'm leaning towards the S3, i was dead set on the 330CD. But i've had a diesel for so long, and they are great, i just a fancy a change. Also i am probably going to work close to the city centre, which will mean a shorter journey, mostly stuck in Birmingham rush hour traffic :censored: , so the argument of getting a diesel for economy doesn't look as attractive.

For S3 money you could also get a M3 or a B5 RS4. Id go with the S3 though and tune it!

Leon cupra and then you have saved your 10k and just as quick, job done

I'd have to agree. Leon Cupra, Aero kit and take your pick of the remap options when they become available.

Then you'll have a good looking, aggressive styled car that drives well, is fast with 300+bhp and will have saved yourself a fortune too :)

As much as i think the Leon Cupra is a great car, personally i would pick the S3. I am looking for a car that has a certain quality about it, and the S3 is undoubtably built well and Audi is a prestige brand, which is why i am also considering the E46 BMW.

In addition, the S3 has more tuning potential, since it has uprated engine internals compared to the Leon. And most importantly, it is 4WD, so it will handle better [B)]

The only thing that does bother me is the cost, if it wasnt for that, i would have bought the S3 as soon as i got the money for my Ibiza!!

Have you driven both?

I have (pretty hard) and they're not 'the same' car at all. the Audi has the refinements and toys you would expect a 10k price tag to have over the cupra

but both are immense fun (am I one of the few people outside of the tuning trade to have driven a 300bhp cupra & S3?) - and are easy to drive quickly

It is the refinements and toys that partly attract me to the S3. Performance-wise, i'm sure there isn't a great deal of difference between a remapped Cupra and S3, however the Quattro system on the S3 will surely mean it is quicker around the corners

Scotty_b, here are some pics just for you!

In the flesh, the 330CD does look good, haven't seen an S3 close up yet though.......

S3 every time, the M3 is bland, looks dull, every other cars a BMW and you get put into a stereo type with the BM. The S3 wins with no questions!

Yeah the S3 does look cool. I am leaning more and more towards it. Only thing is I would have enough cash to pay for the E46 outright, whereas i would have to borrow about 10k to get the S3. Choices, choices

Looking at those photos above... the S3 wins hands down for me. The BMW is a good looking car, but quite dull compared to the S3. The S3 has a certain class about it too and the interior, especially with Recaros, is lovely.

If it's a straight choice between the two... I'd take the S3 every day of the week. And I don't say that lightly, as I really do like the 3-series Coupe.

You only live once. Go for the S3, they hold their value extremely well, and are pretty exclusive.

E46's are a dime a dozen.Every man and their dog has one. Its also a bit of a drug dealers favourite in London.
