I've part exchanged my Altea because i've had to many problems with it, great drive, shame about the reliability. I'll give you a list of things that i can remember;

Mass Flywheel recall
Fuel pump recall
Required 2x drivers door window seals
Lumbar Support not fitted to driver seat, but fitted to passenger seat
Delaminated windscreen (milky at the bottom of the screen)
Vibration/ creaking from dash
Wheel alignment needs correcting every 3 months
Cruise control failed & only restarted after engine turned off
Car locked me out with the engine running
Boot failed to open, but after a long journy it started to work again
Bonnet latch switch failed
4x new wheels due to the front pair being corroded.
Door mirror hit side window when retracted
Sensor changed on electric window because it kept lowering down as up was selected

I have lost confidence & after a few test drives I decided on a new Honda CRV.

Never got to test drive a Free Track 4 because Stoneacre of Peterborough could not be arsed to phone me back to book a drive, this was after a face to face conversation with the salesman, his loss. Though tbh it would have taken a lot for me to purchase another car from such a poor company.

Just hope you guys don't have as much trouble with your motors, as i had with mine.

Happy New Year

Sorry to hear that. You must have had a bad one. So far, in 18 months, all I've had done is the radio replaced for a button not working. There's one or two little niggles but nothing like above.

Build quality

Hi Tabintab,
Sorry to hear your woes, although, I think I know what you mean regarding build quality.Mine is a Tinta Black 1.9 TDI Stylance (SS 2005).I have only had it about 3 months and I have the following problems:-
a).Engine Idle judder ie at traffic jams
b).Creaking front passenger door (when driving over substantial bumps).
c).Creaking driver door, when pushing it open to get out.
d).Creaking dash when cold, this seems to get less when hot.
Although, not technically a build problem I don't like the seating position, it causes pain in my right knee.
I have had the car in the dealer 3 times already and they havn't been able to fix any of the problems.(although they do try....).
Apart from this I like the car, but I have to say that the jury is out whether I get on with the car in the long term.

good luck with your new car,

good luck with your new car,

I got d). Creaking dash when cold quite bad on my car, though when it got hot it almost dissapeared. On the seating position i found my car perfect in every way, even passengers used to say how snug they felt in the seats. I guess we are just not buit the same, bit like Seat cars I guess :)

Sorry to dig up an old thread but I've had similar issues.

1) Cruise control fails to work at all
2) Loss of power due to valve on turbo jamming
3) My well advertised ABS/ESP control unit failing
4) Possible compressor failure on aircon
5) Wind noise from wing mirrors (solved by inserting the foam baffle)

I've also had the creaking issues with my panels, hasn't annoyed me that much though. Can't fault Camberley Service Centre as they've been great, just a shame the dealers are reasonably crap and SEAT themselves seem a bit uncaring. Afraid I'll be trading mine in though for something of similar value but slightly larger (Mondeo, Avensis, Vectra or Zafira top of my list at the moment).

It's an insert that goes in the wing mirror, it reduces the noise generated by the wing mirror (somehow - it does work). Apparently all SEAT dealers know about it (it may be a free fix), but don't let on about it - does have a part number, can't remember though, sorry :(

bought mine 1 month ago and has been in the dealers for 2 weeks of that,

no locking wheel nut key!!!
delaminating windscreen,
wind noise around door,
virtually no rear brake pads,
air con blower motor did not work,
air vents stuck open,
blah.blah,blah

bearing in mind this was supposedly had a 102 piont saftey check and a 40k service,

NOT IMPRESSED,[:@]

came back forom dealers with front bumper scuffed and 2 dents in the door!!:censored:

still have wind noise and engine still judders, i am giving them one more chance to sort it out if they dont fix it i am returning it under the sale of goods act
let you know how i get on,
such a shame as it is a great car and does everything i want it to do
