the snowfoam is a pre wash thing to remove road traffic film and some dirt before washing the car.
Its applied either by a Gilmour or a foam lance. The Gilmour connects directly to your hose pipe connection but generally doesnt foam as well as a foam lance. The foam lance is used with a pressure washer so they vary on their connection type.

Snow foam is avalible from most detailers as are the lance's and Gilmours. I personally have the Autobright foam lance and its awesome. Ive only used it once though (only got it last week) and used it with the snow foam and with a drop of Megs Gold Class in there and washing time was reduced by loads.

Autobright themselfs and detailing world will provide you with all the info you need

Snow foam is one of my favourites, it almost cleans the car with minimal of effort. you can see the dirt and grime sliding off the car. As said, you definitly need a power washer to provide enough pressure to agitate the foam. Beleive me, its good fun......

Does the Karcher one let you use any type of car shampoo? Or do you have to use a special type? Total newbie with this so apologies if that's a dumb question.

Any highstreet suppliers of that? Or is it web-only? And is it worth doing with normal stuff or not?

The Karcher washer I have has something similar built in. It has a bottle for the shampoo and if you remove the high pressure end of the gun it squirts foam out... is this going to achieve the same thing? Or is the add-on version better?

I only use Autobrite, but then again its just up the road from me,

I have tried other products with other appliances as well, and Snow Foam is by far the best, The add on to the Karcher is a simple container that mixes with the high pressure water, so i can only imagine the resevoir built into your karcher will act the same. If you want to try some fella, and i can send you a sample in the post, (in a suitable container of course ;) *** got a large Vat of it.

Mix in some shampoo with the snow foam aswell, to aid cleaning the car.

Note though that this is only a prewash, and needs to be rinsed completely, before you then go ahead with washing the car.

Gave my car a blast lastnight with SnowFoam from my Superspray, and rinsed it, no washing the car, just a simple spray and rinse, and its clean today, lovely and shiney.

Bought my pressure washer today, just a cheapy one from wicks

Hoping to clean the car tomorrow or the following day,its got a small bottle attachment that fits at the end of the lance. Do I put the snow foam liquid in that bottle and do I need to add the normal car wash liquid with the snow foam?

Going down to haulfrauds for this snow foam tomorrow, hope they sell it.

Don't think that Halfords sell anything that's a direct equivalent.

However, any car shampoo mixed to the correct ratio will foam up nicely using the pressure washer attachment (it just won't dwell on the car for as long).

Maths Bit

IIRC, the Karcher foam attachment was found to work about 25:1 with the feed water so if, for example, your shampoo should be mixed at 100:1 then it needs to be 4:1 in your foam attachment bottle.

...or just play about with it until it gives you the desired results. :)

Thanks guys will have a try with the normal car shampoo in the lance bottle and see how that goes 1st. Don't fancy shelling out loads for cleaning the car.

Can anybody tell me if the Autobrite snow foam removes wax from the car? Is it possible to spray it on, hose it off and dry and still keep the wax protection on the car?

From my experience, the wax always seems to stay intact.

From their website;

BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND! The' Original Snow Foam' is back! Specially formulated by Autobrite-Direct! It is a concentrated foam additive which provides a thick mouse style foam to rapidly break down dirt.. A thick high foam, neutral cleaner containing a blend of detergents, wetting agents, foamers and sequestering agents for the removal of traffic film, grease, insects and dirt from all car & commercial vehicles. RESULTS FROM AUTOBRITES

I originally tried Snow Foam with just a Detergent bottle attached to a hose pipe, without any joy at all. As soon as you attach your pressure washer, then the desired effect comes into full force.

I was reading that a minute ago actually :)

Where I'm coming from, is can this be used as a quick way of washing the car with good results? I give the car a proper clean and wax every month or so, but in the mean time I just use normal car shampoo and the two bucket method.

What I'd love, is to be able to soak the car and wheels in this stuff, leave it for a minute to do it's thing, and then pressure wash off. Then, if needed, go around with the bucket as normal to finish things off. But, do all this knowing the wax protection will still be there afterwards.

Or, is this something that is done as part of 'the big clean' when it gets washed and waxed?
