I know thats an ironic statement but ever since i fitted the FMIC last week there has been a definate increase is smoke!!

I have the Green panel filter, Cupra intake and CAT back exhaust (all fitted months ago)-this resulted in noticable smoke when i booted it. but now it creates a mad smoke screen at every occassion!!

Is this something to be concerned about?

there is a noise that i can only hear on load-can decide if its the turbo spooling or a boost leak on the bottom pipe!!!

The Air flow meter seems grand as it still pulls like a champion!!

That doesnt inspire confidence!!! Its obviously not burning enough fuel, but the MPG, Acceleration and general feel of the engine are just as before/if not slightly better!!

Better not be signaling turbo trouble!!

Oil consumption is always fine-i can get 10,000miles without having to touch the oil!! the last oil change i did (last week) was bang on in the middle of the indicator....even after 10,000miles. It hasnt dropped at all in a week!!

the smoke is a light shade of black. Have to get VAGCOM on it!!

After I had a blast on Sunday I am sure my car was smoking from underneath :headhurt:

I pulled up at the light and could see smoke(looked like under the bonnet DAY LIGHT)

There was a car infront with 3 guys smoking in it but I thought it was my car making all the smoke!

FMIC fitting soon so I hope it's not going to get worse

My Tdi is smokey under acceleration, which is normal. Not vast amounts but at night time , when there are headlights from behind, you can see it.
Recently, I had new headlamps installed but noticed that the back of the lamps was very close to the air intake opening.

Thinking this will be a problem, I took out the intake and cut it shorter, just to ehere there is a fixing that secures it to the wing. The intake now starts in the engine bay and not behind the nearside lamp. As a result, there is much less soot, acceleration is smoother and MPG has improved, giving me an average of 2 mpg more!

My car is a Bora and the improvement was quite unexpected. Don't take my word for it and go hacking up your air intake pipes willy nilly but look at where the air intake is as the layout could be causing restriction of air flow.

I just run the OE air filter and it is not a new one either!

I too would expect less smoke with mods such as green filters, better intakes and the FMIC. They should all be allowing more air in.

My Cupra intake and green filter definitely cleaned mine up - no real increase in power but definitely a smoother engine & cleaner exhaust.

Sounds like there could be a tiny boost leak somewhere...

a lot of smoke would suggest to much fuel not enough air my 306 used to be a real black cloud maker as it dumped fuel in like a super soaker:lol:
