Smelly Aircon

Well, climate control actually. All OK when it is on A/C but as soon as I switch to ECON mode afterwards it smells.
Has anyone had the same problem and tried one of the DIY odour kits from halfords. Any good? And if so where is the intake for the climate control on and Altea?

Thanks

the DIY kits are not too bad. the problem with the A/C is bacteria builds up on the vent intake and starts to smell.

the best way to avoid it in the future, is to turn off the A/C about 5 mins before you finish your journey, that way the air vents and A/C will dry out and thus the bacteria will not start.

OK thanks, I'll give one a go then.

Anyone any specific recomendations re brand?

As I undersytand it I need to spray into the inlet for the A/C. Where is this on a climate control car? If anyone has done it and can give detailed instructions that would be wonderful.

Think I got the "Comma" branded one a few years back on my MK1 Leon. it done the job and got ride of the horrid smell.

instructions may vary but when i done it I think it was something like this.....

you put the a/c full blast and the recirculation button on. then put the spray can on the floor of on of the footwells at the back of the car. press the top button on the can and close the doors. the car then fills up with the gas/mist and you leave it like that for about 10-15mins.

then remove the can and open the doors, the dash maybel be a bit damp but that's ok.... once this is done you a/c should not smell any more. the instructions should be similar to this if I can recall.

Thanks, got some yesterday and it looks straight forward enough. I looked a while back and they were referring to aircon intake vents etc, but as you say this just sprays the whole car.
