smell of petrol

hey guys im wondering if anyone can help?? everynow and again i can smell petrol inside the car when i open the windows, then i pull over lift the bonnet and there is no petrol smell anywhere?? has anyone else had this problem

i had this today, when i got out i realised my fuel filter was leaking petrol, so gotta change it in the morning

Possibly need the lambda probe replaced.

Check the breather pipes under the plastic engine cover , I had one split & had a smell of petrol through the vents

to reply to the above, the car is a 1.6 8v x reg, and what do the breather pipes look like?

not had no experiance with the 1.6 motor sorry

had this a couple of months ago and it was the fuel filter leaking locatedin front of the drivers side rear wheel

ive noticed this the last few weeks. been pissin me right off. i could smell it when i cleaned the car just past the drivers side door but i smelt it then i couldnt source the problem. i just kept getting wiffs of it. thought i was going mad for a start but now this makes sense. i best av a look. is it easy to get too?

yh ju have a look underneath the car when its running by the driverside rear wheel, i changed mine yday. its pretty simple just a jubilee clip in two fuel line clips, my jubilee clip was rusted up and wouldnt come off so i had to snap it off and put a new one in. heres the guide i used it the same for leon http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=1276409

can you get a performance fuel filter or anything like that for the lcr's.

or could be broken evap system or split pipe. it happend to me a while back i got braided fuel lines and tightend them too much then they leaked a little changed clips and fine
