Slightly Different Doors?

I got my facelift cupra back from the bodyshop the other day after having the passenger side rear door replaced. I'm not happy with the work so its going back to the shop for 3 reasons..
1. Its not a good colour match
2. They couldn't be arsed to buy a new rubbing strip so they fitted the old, smashed up one and..
3. The door isn't flush (?)
I know the door they used was NOT a new part and was from a scrappy, and was wondering if the door shape has been changed any time on the leon mk1 because the door is not a great fit...
The door they have fitted is slightly sunk in compared to the originals leaving a slight panel gap. The door is a good fit ie: it opens and closes smoothly and the gap isn't huge but it definately isn't there on the other side.
Also, the original doors are slightly more fluted out at the bottom compared to the replacement door which slopes more inwards.
Did seat change the door shape? I'd take a picture to show i'm not mad but i don't have a digi camera.. Can anyone shed any light on this?
Cheers

could be the door has been mounted at a bad angle, this can happen as lining up doors is terribly difficult.

Possibly?
It looks pretty straight compared to the side of the car, its just not flush depth-wise compared to the other doors. strange.
Wondering if the door isnt fluted at the bottom because it is bent/repaired?

Long story, i'll try to shorten it.
Week after buying car 17yr old oik crashes into it
> I give him a chance to do it out of insurance
> Turns out the place he books it in is where his cousin works and he tryed to do a cheap job to save himself money
> Cheap job looks sh*te and i tell him i'm not happy, shop won't take it back because they think the job is 'fine'. Wouldn't take it back there anyway after arguing with manager. (i have a recorded conversation on my mobile of him giving me sh*t. best bit is when he says "Its no f*cking rolls royce, its only a seat")
> I'm currently chasing 17yr old oik up for the full £750 I was quoted by a good bodyshop and if he doesn't pay by the end of january its going through the insurance. The accident has already been logged and the claim is suspended so i have something to fall back on.

This is my first ever accident... Lesson learned: Just put it through the insurance......

Sounds like the wrong straps have been fitted to the door. If its not right now honey take it back. If the door 'drops' when you open it, would indicate its the straps. If the lines do not match it would suggest the angle to door has been hung at is wrong. Check the top and the bottom to ensure that there isnt a huge gap at either end.

Just had a bit of a mess around with the door..
It feels like its hung properly it closes smoothly without any notches and it opens the the way it should do.
After closer inspection the bottom of the door is bent from damage before repainting which probably explains why its not fluted outwards like the originals. I reckon it leaves the little panel gap because they probably bent the door brackets taking it off the donor car.
I did specifically tell them I wanted a NEW door but clearly the little oik decided he didn't want to pay for it. And i still cant believe they refitted the partly shattered rubbing strip.
No chance i'm going back there..

I have had a bump, not my fault and given the other driver the chance to sort it but I use my mate who runs a body shop, as if Im not happy he sorts it, and does the quote to give us both a drink.
Go to your insurance, if they know the full story they will put it through as a claim, and assess the job.

if it's not flush depth wise it most likely just needs the catch/hinges lining up properly

wouldn't take too long to rectify

I'm not going to name and shame just yet I want to get it all sorted first.
I'm going to get a new replacement door whether through the insurance or if this kid actually pays up, so i suppose it doesn't really matter about the the door fitting now. At least i know he's insured.
The little oik showed no sign of remorse. He said he thought the repair was 'fine' and insisted I met him in person, where he brought his 'big brother' who was clearly trying to **** me up.
At the time i didn't want to mess up this kids insurance, i was 17 once and i know how expensive it is so i felt sympathetic. Not a mistake i'll make again.

I see where you coming from, as if you claimed, his insurance goes up, he doesnt bother to insure his car......
BUT you have a right to have you car returned to the pre-crash condition.
You have done "Mr Nice Guy" It doesnt work, get your insurance involved. give them the full story.
