Ok ladies and gentlemen looking for some advice, jumped in to my 03 LCR last nite too go too work everything normal drove too work still everything normal, stopped at work let car cool down switched engine off....... then realised a had forgot something when trying too start the car back up it felt a bit hessatant too start then revs shot up too 2800-3000 where they stayed. So i blipped the throttle which again was hessatant nad they slowly started too drop..... with a very strong smell of petrol... revs returned too normalish so proceeded too drive, but car felt very lumpy indeed.[:@]
could anybody shine some light on this if anyones had the same problem...cheers

yes its only doing it when a restart the car........ when its cold in the morning its ok its realy after its been warmed up, aye have had a coil pack go on me so i dont think it could be that, i was thinking maybe maf or maybe needing new sparkplugs or sticky tb??????????

TB could be sticky, or just dirty and not closing right - on idle it only moves a very smal amount...

Also the Water Temp Sensor can do things like this - makes the ECU think the engine is cold so sticks more fuel in (revs run hi) ... but when cold the car needs more fuel anyways so you dont notice it.

Are you getting carp mileage from the car since it started playing up ??

Also you had it scanned for faults ??

Does the car boost fine afterwards? Does it hit full boost without a problem when car is warmed up?

An explanation for high revs on sart up is a boost leak somewhere. The ecu compensates to try to stop the car from stalling.

Check the top IC hoses and anything around the DV area that may be loose.

If no joy, hook it up to vagcom and that will no doubt bring up an error code to point you in the right direction.

it does seam too be using slightly more fuel, theres a strong smell of petrol when you rev it at stand still, i dont have a boost gauge so dont know if its boosting properly!!
its going in for a service this wk so il see how that goes + il get them too do a diagnostics check

maybe theres some unburnt fuel left in the system and when you restart it ignites pushing up revs , but why? id say a dodgy plug or coilpack , probably the latter ,they r dodgy as fook.

ive got the car booked in for its 40k service tommorrow, and have requested them too do a diagnostics check on it too see if it flags up anything as i dont know anybody near me that has vag-com, its very strange even with -3 degrees outside still started first time, warmed the car up stopped at a shop, switched engine off, went too shop approx 5 min started car back up and sure enough revs shot up too 3k and just sat there.....................

If you fancy a trip to the Motherwell area (short blast along the M8) then i can VAG-com it for ya.

Wont be until next week though as i've got work & stuff on until Sunday this week.
