My conundrum guys...
Going to the ring in May this year and have just about scraped together the cash to pull all the mods together to make the car tip top for the trip. Soon to have CC stage 2 with all the goodies (ko3s, forge FMIC etc etc), suspension and brakes are all tip top. Conundrum is that I still have the standard clutch which has done about 50k miles and still feels solid. However with the uprated bhp and torque I don't wanna get to the ring, do half a lap before the old girl goes. My current plan is wait till all the work is done, drive her hard and see how she fairs, if alls good go to the ring. Is this being overly optimistic as driving hard at the ring is gonna be a slightly different level (been 3 times so will be gunning the cupra hard ). The other issue is cash, realistically gonna have to extend me overdraft (help me please nice Mr Bank Manager ) or get a loan to get an uprated clutch fitted before I go in May.
So your thoughts please, if it feels ok after the CC stage 2:
a.) risk it on standard clutch, I don't wanna go another grand into the red
b.) no way, fork out now and keep 5 days of racing clutch burn out free
Ultimatley if it feels ropey after the remap anyway I will need to get it done...
