Guys - Put short plates on the FR and found the dealer had drilled for the originals.
So as I wanted to get the front / back looking as clean as possible I hunted around and found these fixings here which were originally designed for PCB's in electronics manufacture.

The end result is here:

The front ones (white ) are more of a natural colour and are very neat eve on my mates emocion red leon.

My cupra is due in three weeks and told the dealer to stick the number plates on not screw then as I have got a 3/4 size front plate "wrc stylee" to fit after i pick it up.

So hopefully no screw holes;) But might tell then again to be sure!!

I got pulled over for a shortened number plate not 10 minutes ago. Ive litterally cut an inch off both sides as I only have 5 digits.

£30 fine and reported to the DVLA.

He did warn me they have all been told, if you see an iffy number plate pull it over.

if you have less characters than normal im sure you can still have it cut down legally, as long as the numebrs / letters are still a certain distance from the edges..

need to find the law regarding plates i think...

Thats right, there legally has to be a 13mm border around the letters, anything extra is optional.

Here is the proof - its a PDF but print that and take it to the station along with your producer. http://www.dvla.gov.uk/media/pdf/leaflets/v796.pdf

I've chopped the sides off my front plate too as I have a 6 digit plate, I've been spoken to about them but a show of that along with my MOT got me on my way with no fine or warning. I left 20mm on the sides.

thats a joke that, what will the dvla do??? i see loads of number plates on the road with all kinds of letter spacing and letters and numbers twisted to make it look like something. i reckon they were having your life like saying theyve been told to pull everyone ova. 30 quid in the back pocket i reckon!;)
