Hi all i currently own a LCR 210 which i love to bits and at 22 i think its a really good car to add to my list of cars.. however i have got the chance to buy a subaru P1 its a 2000 model has 40,000 on the clock is pretty much standard apart from the full turbo de cat exhaust and a hks ssdv ..standard these are 280bhp 0-60 in 4.8sec ..now i have been driving the P1 all week and have found it so nice to drive i love the stiffness of he ride the short throw gear box the noise how it just grips i then got in my LCR and every thing seemed sloppy the gears had so much throw in them the steering was light dont get me wrong its still quick the brakes are the nuts compared to the scooby which is the 1st thing that will be getting changed if i do get it to a nice set of AP racing 6 pots ...question is what would you lot do if it was any other scooby then i would not get it but as its a P1 im tempted

many thanks to your replys

Thats a hard choice which has come up in a thread fairly recently. I would only go for the scoob if you are prepared for the extra running cots - such as fuel and service because they will be leap up from the LCR.

Also insurance - at 22 can you really get insured on this for under £1k?? I thought most insurance co's on the scoob at this level refused to insure under 25. I rang up to enquire when I was looking at cars and was told this from a few co's. I'm over 25 but for the extra costs involved I had to go for the LCR. Ins group 20 for me is a big no no.

Trouble with the scoob I think is the boy racer image where people want to race you etc. if that is what you want and can afford it then go for it!!

Had a P1 for a weekend bout 6 months ago!
Loved it, drove it hard and done a bit of town driving!
It was bad on fuel mind you!
Would have loved a 22B tho!
I would have it if i had another quick car to use during the week ans Scoob at weekend!
But not as my only car!

Insurance will destroy you! im having problems at the moments getting a normal subs which is over 1400, im 22 with 3years claims. no one will insure me on it. but other cars i had such as pulsar and 200sx i get good quotes. when the name subaru comes in (Do one).
I prefer a p1 over cupra, but subz are quite common compared to a lcr.

Its all up personal taste and insurance companies

The LCR is better looking than 90% of all other cars. The remaining 10% are not within the price-range of anyone who worries about insurance & running costs ;)

There is no doubt the Scooby is an amazing car and well worth having. HOWEVER things to consider

1) Age of the car
2) Fuel costs
3) Servicing costs
4) Image associated with the scooby
5) LCR with a few mods can be a superb car and very quick.
6) LCR as Swiss just said looks better than a majority of hothatches. Hardly seen on the road compared to scooby's.
7) Quality of the scooby interior is very plasticy. LCR one is surely better? I am judging this from my brothers scoob which was a 04 model.
8) insurance

Is the LCR insured in your own name? Because £760 for a 22 year old is a cracking quote. I payed more than than last year when I was 25, had 6 years NCB and added on girlfriend to bring quote down.

Sell the LCR and buy the P1.

LCR's are easy to find so you'll have no problem buying one again in the future. P1's aren't so common, especially ones in good condition with sensible mileage and without stupid mods on. The P1 is also a lot less sensible than the LCR, so enjoy it while you can and then think about getting another LCR in the future when you need 5 doors and a big boot.

Just make your mind up quick, as LCR's are bloody hard cars to sell! No matter how great we all think they are, selling them isn't easy.

You got ripped off then mate. I pay less than you and I'm just about to hit 24 and have a ban on my licence, all mods declared and only 3 years NCB. I'd shop around a bit more next year :)
