Hi

Any chance someone could confirm the situation with servicing on a VZ1 March 2023 registered vehicle please, as I'm getting mixed information from the dealer (where I'm buying the vehicle) vs Cupra UK.

Dealer is telling me first major service not due until the vehicle is 4 years old. Cupra UK saying service intervals are minor then major, alternating every 1 year or 10k miles basis (whichever is sooner), so therefore first major at 2 years old or 20k miles.

Dealer tells me the vehicle had a minor service early 2024 and they have just done another minor service last week, which fits in with their own servicing profile but not what Cupra UK have told me.....

Also, anyone know the cost of minor and major services please? Cupra UK couldn't tell me for some reason!

Thanks

My dealer has always followed the schedule that CUPRA above have quoted you, and I thought all dealers did this. Only difference was if the car was on the longlife oil set up (for owners who did lots of motorway miles) rather than the annual (10,000 miles) regime.

I can speak for German one. Once a year oil change, and every two years heavy maintenance. You can see the same on the infotainment panel too.

I go by what the car tells me. Says in the manual:

Service interval display
At CUPRA, the dates of the services are indicated by the service interval display on the instrument cluster ››› page 28 or in the Vehicle settings menu of the infotainment system
››› page 35.
The service interval display gives information for service dates that involve an engine oil change or an inspection. When the time for the corresponding service comes, additional work required, such as the change of brake fluid and the spark plugs, can be carried out.

Service due
When it is time for a service or an inspection, an audio warning will sound when the ignition is switched on, and a spanner symbol may appear for a few seconds on the instrument cluster display , along with one of the following
messages.
● Service now!
● Please have your vehicle inspected
● Oil change service due!
● Oil change service and inspection
due!

Oil change every year
Oil change service and inspection every two years.
That is the schedule for my VZ e-Hybrid. Maybe it is different for normal benzin or diesel cars.

Mine was taken already

Petrol and e-HYBRID models
Servicing is recommended every year or 10,000 miles, whichever comes first. The vehicle may also indicate when an inspection is due.

There are three types of scheduled service:

- Oil change (first year only)
- Oil change and inspection
- Oil change and inspection with supplementary scope

After the first year, these will alternate between the oil change with inspection and the expanded inspection service.

That says to me that the 'major' service is in year 3. So

Year 1 oil only
Year 2 oil and inspection
Year 3 oil and inspection plus supplement
Year 4 oil and inspection
Year 5 oil and inspection plus supplement

They don't make this easy at all.

Hi,
This is the VAG group recommendation.
The minor service (every 10000 miles or 1 year if you use non LL oil) corresponds to an engine oil + oil filter replacement, then some visual checks.
The major service (every 20000 miles or 2 years only if you use LL oil) corresponds to a minor service + cabin filter change + front wipers replacement.
If your Formentor is DSG equiped, DSG oil change is every 40000 miles
Then depending if your mileage is 60000 or 80000, there are other operations according to your engine (petrol or diesel): air filter + diesel filter / spark plugs (every 60000)…
Don't forget brake fluid replacement at 3 years old and then every 2 years.
