Servicing

Hi there,

Its time for a service and MOT . I have been quoted £315.00 by seat to do this and £200.00 by my local vauxhall franchise.

What are the advantages with paying extra with seat other than the "SEAT" stamp in service history?

Regards
Dan

none as far as I can tell! provided an independant uses original vag parts and completes everything required of the service the only difference is being able to say it has full seat service history when you sell it!

its the same dilemma i'm currently having!

btw, which service is it?

I think it did look good when I bought mine to see the red stamp for every service, but then it's done 100k.

Having said that it depends when you sell it, when I got rid of my 52 Ibiza it was 3 years old, full SSH but I needed a quick sale so it went really cheap anyway, might as well have not serviced it at all!

Yea it is low,
ive just bough the car from a women who just used to potter to the shops.
Last service was a year ago and only 4k miles!!

Im thinking its sensible to go with the cheaper deal, after all its only the 1.4S

ye, i think people will be more inclined to want the full history on an lcr which is possibly more likely to have been thrashed than the 1.4.

the focus that i just sold had dealer history before i got my mucky hands on it and i just serviced it myself...the new buyers didnt seem bothered about that but then it went cheap anyway!!!

I don't think having a full SEAT service history would command any extra cash at sale. Any franchise servicer should be fine, but I'd probably stick to VAG to keep it simple. Have you considered using Skoda as their service costs are slightly cheaper?

i would have thought any independant that uses all vag parts would be just as good as a main vag stealer?

basically....the cheaper the better!

Skahigh , as you`re in S.Wales try J P board in Bridgend . Just had a 60k service on my LC and they quoted £150>£160 , but my actual bill was £135 . They were Seat dealers , but Seat specialists now . Dropped my car off @ 9.45 and they said it would be ready by 12.00 , went for a wander & came back and it was ready @11.50 . Good Service

If its over 4 yrs old then there will be no warranty on it anyways will there? so why not just take it to any garage and let them use the stuff they can get there hands on? May work out even cheaper aswell as vauxhall will have higher labour rates.......

I live in Newport , it took about 35/40 mins to get down there . When I phoned T&T they quoted £198 , when I phoned back it was £215 . You could have a wander around Bridgend while u wait as they`re in the town , loads of coffee shops and wetherspoons opened at 10 am

Just had 40k service done at SEAT garage, FR TDi for £181.

Originally quoted £285 when I phoned from another SEAT stealer and £220 from the 1 I went too but played them off each other!
