My car is a 73 plate, with 5900 miles on the clock. Only just purchased from my local cupra dealer.

It's currently on the flexible service schedule but as I do sub 10k pa I'm going to alter this and get it serviced yearly.

I've checked the service details on the car's infotainment system and this backs up the dealer who sold me the car saying it didn't require a service till Sept 2025...but for me that just doesn't feel right.

As I plan to keep the car, I've purchased a service plan from my local seat, who are listed on the cupra site also (checked to ensure they were there. The dealer I purchased from is almost 50 miles away). The Cupra dealer showed no interest in setting me up a service plan and just told me to set the Cupra one up online, but that only covered the first two services....

Which oil would you guys use as I like to keep a bottle for topping up.

I've looked over this service plan but cannot see where the DSG and Haldex are going to be serviced. Any idea what age / mileage these should be done? I can see break fluid mentioned though.

Honestly this always baffles me with VAG cars...what happened to just keeping things simple lol

I use VW 0W-20 oil which is recommended by the manufacturer. Change every 10k km.
I changed Haldex oil after 30k km.
Plan to change DSG oil at 60k km.

Not even looking into manufacturer intervals...

Thanks @tomek_olo

I'm starting to think the Cupra dealers don't really know how everything works (well the ones I've spoken to).

I've been back on the VWROC forums from when I had my golf R 7.5 estate (which is basically the same as this car) and read around there also. There is a lot more discussion and interaction on that forum, probably because not many people have this Cupra ?

I will pick it up with the Seat service people when I am back in the UK (I'm in Morocco currently).

I'll check the oil as Halfords (not that I would trust them) suggest shell helix auto 0-30 when I put in my registration...

Yes, I think you are right, it should be 0w-30. 0w-20 is perhaps okay for a hybrid 1.4 TSI engine but not for the much more powerful EA888 2.0 310 hp engine.

This looks about right for the Golf R 7.5 I had and I'm guessing the Cupra will be similar / the same.

Looks good. As the Golf 7 R and the 310 hp Cupra Leon in all essentials shares technology I guess the plan goes for Cupra Leon 73 plate.

Since it’s a US service plan (DAP) you have fixed service intervals regarding oil changes. In Europe in general we have flexible plan but I change Oil/filter anyway at about 7000-10000 km.
The flexible plan is up to 2 years or 30000 km (20000 miles), a distance which is far to long I would say.

FYI I had a Golf 7 R for 4 years and now I have a Seat Leon Cupra R 310 hp. I treat them the same way, do the service by my self :).

My car is on the flexible service but I'm switching to fixed and having it serviced in two months when it's 12 months old. I don't care if it is more expensive, every 12 months or 10k miles is how my service plan is set up. That's how all my private cars have been done. When I have had lease cars, I didn't care so just went with whatever...when it's mine I like to try and baby them a bit lol.

I will enquire about the haldex and DSG but looks like it's a 3 year service on Haldex, but will ask them about the filter element of it (do they clean / replace or just change the oil).

I'm also in the UK, but it's showing a Moroccan flag as I'm on holiday :)

As you wrote Haldex oil every 3 years. Had a Haldex oil change done on my Golf 7,5 Alltrack 2 months ago. This work I didn’t do my self, to much crawling on the ground… I asked the "independent” workshop to take out the pump and clean the steal mesh. They did as we agreed.

Ah I don't have the tools, knowledge or skills to do my own servicing but hats off to you for doing it yourself.
