Servicing costs at 20K on an FR

Just had a bit of a shock, just phoned my local Seat dealer for my 20k service just to be told it would come to £350  What the hell is that all about, even my Toyota Celica on a major service was a lot less than that!!!!

Tell me this dealer is off his head, surely it doesn't cost £350 to change oil, two filters and clean the damn thing?

Mine was £141 at Inde-Tech in Milton Keynes, they get a good rep on here. Not sure where you are but you might find a similarly good independent near you. Have a look in the servicing forum for clues.

Thanks for all the responses, I eventually phoned Seat customer care to ask if £350 was about right for a filter change and oil.... They said it depends on who you go to, which I think stinks, at least there should be some guidelines for each garage as to what they charge. Stupid thing is I could do all the servicing myself but then I risk losing out on my warranty, which I need at the moment because a solenoid has died in the central locking and my back door won't lock :(

One thing I was told was that I could go to an independant dealer and get them to do it as long as they used genuine parts and it won't affect the warranty, is this right?

Oh, by the way I live in Hampshire, anyone know a could service place that won't charge me stupid money for what I think is basic car maintenance?

Not impressed with Seat at the moment, I thought Toyota were a bunch of con men, this shower are even worse [:@]

Yeah, an independant wil keep your warranty as long as genuiine parts used, also stamp counts in book from them. My 20k service came to £125 i think. Tried to charge £145 but had in writing their quote of £125, dont let them shaft you. My 30k was £112 incl brake fluid sevice (every 2yrs).
