Service Reminder won't go away - Leon FR

Hi everyone, greetings from Mexico.

So I just bought a used 2014 FR, with only 44K Km. Car is in excellent mechanical and physical condition, couldn't be happier!

But the car has a "Service now!" message that shows on screen whenever I turn the car on or off. The service screen says it is past by 500km.

I did research and found out how to reset the reminder, I did so and I get a "Service reset!" screen, only to immediately get a "Service now!" screen again.

What is going on, and should I be worried? I read a post about OBD11 codes that could fix this, but I'm wondering if there's another way as I don't have an OBD11 device.

Assuming that the FR has the same set up/options as European models, if you go to the following screen on the infotainment (stereo) screen, what is displayed?

CAR>>Setup>>Service

In Europe, there will be two options displayed:

Time / Distance to Inspection Service and Time / Distance to Oil Service.

If either of these is reading 0 / overdue, you will get the service warning on the MFD screen on the dash. I believe that the directions to reset alters only one of these (inspection?), whereas the other will remain due.

Thanks! So in that case the only way to stop it is to take it to the dealership?

The car is already out of warranty, so I tend to do my own oil changes etc.

If you do not want to take it to a dealer, then it can also be reset by VCDS, Carista, OBD11 using a OBD2 Bluetooth Dongle or Cable and software.

Carista is probably the cheapest way to fix this at c.$25 for the dongle and then pay for an app subscription to unlock VAG specific features.

There are plenty of threads on VW, Audi, Seat and Skoda forums with regards to how to use these devices, plus their advantages/disadvantages.
