Service light flasing at only 5000 miles!!!

Has anyone experienced the same as me?

Bought the car in Feb 06 with delivery mileage.
Its now done 5100 ish miles (Sept 06) and the service light is flashing.
Looking at the V5, the car was first registered on 30/09/05.
Surely there can't be an internal clock in the car somewhere telling the car that the first year is nearly up.

Any thoughts

Yup. There's a 12 month clock as well as the mileage.

yep i wondered too, done 6k in 1st year and it came up with service light!!!
