Service Light Flashing

Hey Everbody,
I only bought my car 2 weeks ago, and now the service light on the dash flashes while waiting for the rest of the dash lights to go out.
The garage I bought it off said they had serviced it prior to my collecting it. Does this mean they didn't or did they simply forget to reset this setting. (Its got 41K miles on it)
I also never got a service history book.
Should I start to worry?!!

well all leon sho9uld come witha service book, the garage state that it had it service, this should be stamped in the book!
Service book is very important as it shows the car has been kept up to dat with its services.
I would ask for it.

Cheers Big Lad.
They never said it had any service history, although this didnt really bother me as it was in excellent nick. I didn't think of looking for the service history book until I got it home to be honest.
It's going back in tomorrow evening to get one of the windows fixed. So I can ask them about it again, but I would think that I'll be told if it's not in the car, then they dont have it.
With regard to the "Service" flashing though, is it just a case of them re-setting this or does it mean they haven't actually serviced it?

Yeh its simple to reset it,
if the service book is lost, i think a copy could be obtained from Seat if any service were carried out by them.

So if I go into any SEAT garage will they be able to tell me if its been serviced in a SEAT garage before, and then supply me with a service book?

well i they may ask for V5 but if you ask them, they should be able find previous service information. you can buy a new service book and add them into. Any further services then be stamped into the book.

They will be able to supply you with a service book for sure, but unless the car has been serviced at that specific garage they wont be able to give you a history of where the car has been serviced. Best thing to do is try and find out which dealer sold the car originally and see if they did the servicing for it.

Might take a bit of effort, but a good service history is well worth having.

I know where it was originally bought, as its stamped in the Owners Manual (its only the service book that is missing), so I will ring them and hope for the best.
Would it be a bit cheeky to ask the garage where I bought it if they have details for the previous owner?

You can ask, they might tell you to piss off, but you can ask. Certainly no harm in trying. The log book (V5) might have that info too, unless the garage registered it in their name?

The garage sent off whatever needed to be sent off to the tax office (I only got one section of that perforated sheet, with my own information filled out on it). I'm still waiting on the tax office to send me back the log book, so I'm assuming that previous owners names will be removed before I get it back off them.
As you say, no harm asking, the worst they can say is no.

The V5 has a section for the previous owners details, so it should be there. Just the last one though, none before that.
