Hi guys,

my Ibiza has gone almost 30 000 km and its about time to go in the dealer so they can service it.

Can you tell me how to prepare myself:

1. Oil change
2. Filter change

Since it is in warranty are they going to oblige me to do something else?

I don't want any not-happy-surprise-cost such as "brake-ferodo-change" or "air-ventilation-filter", etc.

Techie, do you know what is standard for second service?

Thank you!!!!

hehe i meant to say call a dealer and enquire.

Some thing like:

"hello mr or mrs dealer, i have an ibiza whatever, its due its 30,000km/20,000mile service, could you give me a price for this service and what this includes? thankyou."

optional questions:
"when can i book it in"
"can i have a courtesy car"
"is there a cost for the courtesy car?"
"will i have to insure the courtesy car"
"do you have a free coffee machine"
"where are you"
"what time do you open / close"
"if i drop it off first thing, could you get it done in the morning?"
"will you call me when its finished"

and importantly: "you will call me if there is any issues wont you, /do not do any work without authorisation" - adding it wont need any :)

for those who look after their cars bodywork.. "DO NOT WASH MY CAR" - other options include little signs on the driver and passenger windows as they often ignore this instruction. - im not making this up, i once had a dealer wash HALF my car...

I like to do not wash my car! I really dont want some scabby eastern european taking a bucket of dirty soapy water and a hose to my car. Then chamois that has got the contents of a cat litter box embedded in it! Then wiped over my car. Usually wiped over the car in large circles leaving manky swirls all over the car

Just booked mine in for second service then popped on here and saw the first post and laughed. done 20k and was quoted £169 and had second thoughts so just getting a normal 10k service now for £115, only difference I can tell is the pollen filter is changed, more might be done but seems a bit steep only had it a year.

Glad I read about the "don't wash my car" post, will keep that in mind

Here
I'm assuming people are using the dealers for a reason?

I asked SEAT about servicing being done at a non dealership, their response was...

Please allow me to confirm that can take your vehicle to any VAT registered garage, all we ask is that you keep any paper work
given to prove that a service has taken place and that all parts used are SEAT Approved Parts.

May be worth asking a reputable VAG specialist for a comparative quote ;)

You will need a 20k service if thats what you are due to maintain the warranty.
