Please people what is the best way, either squeeze/unclip the gaitor clip at the top and roll down or remove the gaitor from the bottom and pull up?

I've read Pabs guide but the pics seem to be in weird order.

How do I remove the gaitor from the bottom and the gearbox surround does that need to come off?

nothing wrong with the order of my pics ;)

I removed the gaitor from the bottom up - by squeezing it in at the front and back, releasing the clips underneath (one of mine was broken anyway, so made it a bit easier)
The gaitor then pulls up and over the gearknob. You then undo the clip underneath, and the gaitor pulls up and off, along with the knob. then remove the knob completely, replace with a new one, slide back onto the stick, do up the clip, and then pull the gaitor down over the stick, and clip back into the centre console.

So, gaitor from BOTTOM UP (i did) - don't think its possible the other way around, as its secured just under the gearknob.

Sorry Pabs it was the way I had imagined it was different to what you shown.

Your explanation is clearer, thanks...

However how easy does the gaitor bottom surround unclip from the center console and how easy is it to remove the gaitor clips front and back?. Do these need to be pressed in a certain way?

Thanks again

Yep, I followed Pabs guide and it was spot on. A bit fiddly securing the clip for the new knob (thought I would break it, but did it in the end). Definately worth trimming and cutting a slight 'v' in the top part of the gaitor for a tidier fit.

Small amount of forward pressure did mine no probs.
