SEAT Sound Pack - how much difference does it make?

As it stands the SEAT Sound is the difference between me being able to get a car within a few weeks or having to wait 14+ weeks for a build (not keen on doing that tbh). Question is, how much difference does it really make?

The FR system in the demo I played with sounded decent, am I right in thinking the difference is basically the behind dash midbass speaker and wheel well sub?

I've got the Mazda equivalent I retrofitted in my other car and it's not exactly earth shattering in terms of what it adds, is the SEAT Sound sub similar or is it more powerful than it looks?

I haven't heard the standard system but I wasn't massively impressed with the seat sound pack. It doesn't sound that different from the standard set up I have in my Octavia VRS.

Seat sound is better than the sound system I had in my mk2 fl octavia vrs. More bass and far punchier at higher volume. I've got a dvd player linked through it as well and provides a good cinema effect. Given you also get the spare wheel if you spec seat sound then I think it represents good value. What about looking for a used one with it and that way you don't need to wait. I bought mine 6 months old and was the first time I had heard the seat sound compared to the standard system.

The new 6.5" nav system and Full Link rules out used ones for me now, Android Auto / CarPlay is something I've wanted for a long time :)

Used prices aren't great compared to what I've been offered via DriveTheDeal, plus 0% finance is compelling vs paying around £15k used. Going new isn't something I imagined doing but it bizarrely seems to make sense.

There's not many good SC's available used either, the ones I've seen have been poorly looked after ex demo cars or low spec. Not surprising really as I'd imagine anyone with a 2 year old FR with all the toys wouldn't want to let it go!

It makes a big difference if you listen to tunes with a lot of bass. tested both systems.

I have SEAT sound on my Cupra.

Yes, it's a lot better. I had two Mk3 FR's back to back, one with SEAT Sound and one without.

I did have some issues with the the passenger door speaker vibrating with the sub turned on but once I soundproofed the doors and speaker recess the problem was solved and it really did sound like an upgraded system.

The standard system is not too bad at all, the dealer talked me out of upgrading for some reason! I haven't heard the upgraded system, but in some ways I wish I had gone for it.
It depends on your musically tastes. Any doubts then go for it, otherwise you'll be left wondering, like me, for the life of the car! Wait the extra weeks and enjoy the anticipation.

Just to weigh in, I have the bog standard system in my 280, and it sounds good to me. But then again, I listen to classical music. Not much bass

The standard sound system really isn't too bad TBH. It is a massive improvement over the MK2 Leon that's for sure.

I was looking for a 1.8tsi FR at the time and a perfect example appeared on on auto trader minus the seat sound. I was in two minds if to go for it or not but it ticked all the other boxes so decided to go wtih it. I certainty don't regret it.

Im toying with upgrading to a Cupra ST currently. Most of the Ex demos seem to have it as standard although if the right car appeared at the right price, I don't think it would be a deciding factor.

I went for standard system and thought it was great. But after a while I wanted bass so I retro fitted a Pioneer space saving sub with built in amplifier

Better than standard? I would assume so with addition of sub, particularly in my bass heavy music ;)

I know I enjoy my sound system (with the SEAT sound upgrade), whether it is massively better I don't know. Would I pay the couple of hundred quid again to add it? Yes.

How easy was the install? Did you grab signal from a rear speaker cable or something along those lines?

Install wasn't too bad once I got my head round where to take the live and switch live from. The remote wire I connected to the cigarette lighter fuse

Btw does anyone know if both the SEAT Sound and standard systems use the same amplifier? The spec list doesn't mention the power of the standard system but says the SEAT Sound is 135W amp.

In a similar vein the FR as standard is listed as 9 speakers, SEAT Sound as 10 (10th being the sub I guess?) I wonder if that means the speakers are the same (Canton?) and for an FR the upgrade is basically the sub on its own (9th speaker for the FR spec being the centre one?)

I thought FR has 8 speakers as standard. Price list on SEAT site still says that although official site isn't always correct  Where did you see it listed with 9? Additional speakers are centre and sub.

That's my understanding too.

Think I read it in the brochure PDF but it was late so gonna have to check to see if I imagined it now

Edit: yup 8 speakers it is, must be going mad lol. Assuming it must be the same amp though as the guy on the Spanish forum plugged the amp and mid speaker in with no HU changes.

Could you point out which sub you installed exactly?
I am also considering to have one...
