i'd check the ecu code before you bid - in case its a Vw golf one (I bought one and it didn't work, some vw's have bosch ecu's whilst seats mainly have siemens) ALSO - check you've got the protection board with the chip, its a sort of piggy back unit that fits between the chip and ecu board. Superchip won't do any warranty or replacements without it (I tried blagging them previously heheh.)

my 8v cupra sport was putting out 130bhp with just a k+n and a supersprint exhaust, 15 horses more than standard, all verified on star performances rolling road. jim from star also told me that it wasn't worth chipping it as i wouldn't get more power from it without putting cams etc on it and ruining the everyday driveability of the car. plus my mate had his chipped and his only put out 129bhp on the same rollers the same day ! how gutted was he ? this was me afterwards. these are great wee cars though and although i've wanted the R for yonks , i still really miss the torquey wee valver.

Mine was rechiped by 'old' AmD back in 1997. I got an extra 9 or 10bhp from memory - up from 124 to 134. Then I got a few more from an air filter & exhaust. Torque went up a similar amount.

i spoke to a guy today at star and he's selling his one, its been chipped and is only putting out 124 bhp , so i think it all depends on the luck of the draw as to whether the standard car is susceptible to putting out more power or not.
