Hello!

I thought I would share some pictures about sound deadening luggage and installing VW Golf floormat.
Before, sound deadening and the final result with the matt. The result: A more premium feeling and alot less sound from the road.

Before, almost no sound deadening.

Looks good. Does the Golf floor liner help with sound deadening, or would the stock liner suffice? Where did you get the deadening mats from?

Yes the Golf floorliner helps a bit ofc, there is nothing but bare metal stock :( The deadening mats are from a local caraudio shop.

Looks really good, mine didn't even look close to that. Respect for your tidiness

I did all mine last year and the part that reduced the noise the most was under the arch trim. I used one layer of the rubber sound deadening and a thin layer of foam.
I'd also recommend if you haven't already, doing doors. Silentcoat and then some dense acoustic foam for directly behind the speakers, adds a good amount of bass after.

Nice and clean looking! I am tempted to do so on my 280 ST too, just wondering if any trims need to be removed doing the boot?

Do it! :) Just need to remove the front plastic pieces, sits with 3 plastic screws to get the matt. To do the sound deadening mats you need to remove the factory "deadening".

I have got an ST and can hear the petrol slopping around in the fuel tank at times. Does your fix damp/deaden/attenuate this noise ?

After seeing @vippens post I had to jump on the bandwagon…! I wasn’t too interested in the sound deadening qualities, I just think it completes the boot floor and makes it look more ‘finished’. I managed to bide my time and grab a genuine SEAT carpet. Not in perfect condition, but it’s a boot carpet after all…! Nice little OEM+ touch I guess. Thanks @Vippen for the idea.

It's strange that my ST FR 2016MY had the boot like that from factory.

Mine too - 2015MY.
Cost saving!
You can't always assume a new model is better than the old model i'm afraid! manufactures are always looking at ways of removing cost from cars - and hoping no-one/few people notice or even care!

That's right. The pre-facelift ST came with carpet liner in the boot and they dropped it for the face-lift. Also dropped the trim piece over the metal cross-bar under the back seats, the direct access buttons on the touch screen and a few other things I can't remember. The face-lift is all cost cutting, nothing is better than the older car.

Ok, the lights are a little brighter...

Do you know what the part number is for the SEAT boot carpet please?
Have tried a local breakers a few times to get a Golf one and always say don't have it.
Thanks?

This was the barcode off the seat one I managed to get off eBay. As someone mentioned in the thread, in earlier cars this was apparently standard (which I didn’t know) so may get lucky if you ping a few emails to eBay breakers.
