Hello! I have bought recently a Seat Leon FR from 2013 with 143.000km (88.000 miles).
It is the 1.4 TSI (CMBA) engine with 122hp , manual. I have paid 8600 euros for it which I think it is a bit expensive.
The car has a bit of rust, not much. Normal for 11 years I think so.
I have changed the water pump, all belts, oil and filters.
I have some questions about some problems I have identified, I will write each one on a line and I want you to give your opinion on it, if it is normal and if not, what should it be.
- important! hissing sound when changing gears, its almost exactly as the hissing sound from the shocks. (I'm not sure if its from the gearbox or clutch)
- i can hear the gear switching if it makes sense, I don't know how quiet should the "changing" should be
- when I'm standing still and im steering to the left or right the back of the car squeaks like a old ship, I don't know what should be changed
- quiet hissing/gas sound from the front suspension (i think from the gas shocks) than can be heard when going over bumps and holes
- can't open both front in the same time, but I can close them simultaneously (I think the buttons need to be changed)
- the front driver window buttons don't have the double tap option to close and open the windows all the way, which is odd because the other windows have it. Maybe they were changed.
- rattling from the dashboard/both front doors from sound/bass and going on bumpy road (I think I will soundproof them with soundproofing tape)
- two times in the 800km I've drove it I've heard when slowly moving the car and steering hard to the left a one-time "knock" sound from the right of the car (below passenger driver seat)
- I've tried to change the sparkplugs (I don't know when they were changed) but I can not unstuck them from the engine block. I don't feel any miss-fires and momentarily I will not change them.
- The AC gives cold air (I mean normal AC cold air like its 0 degrees outside) after many minutes. I think I need to refill the refrigerant.
- today i had a weird think happen to me. I have started the engine and after few seconds the RPM meter went crazy going down fast and then a bit up and then down, then it revived itself. i hope it wasnt a big misfire or something.
I have heard that the CMBA engine and TSI engine in general have bad oil rings (they're small and get easily clogged) and I am really scared that it will start to consume high amounts of oil. It is the EA211 engine. In 500km I have checked the oil dipstick and it doesn't seem that the oil have moved.
It's really hard to drive the car on these streets because of the 18" wheels and the shorted suspensions. (I can feel everything in my kidneys).
Thank you. I am a student and money aren't really easy to get and I am scared that the car will eat me money.
