seat leon fr150

Hey folks. Bought my leon fr150 in september 06. Had it chipped by seditas in Prestwick, using a super chip. This has supposed to have taken the seat from 150 bhp to 190bhp. Not sure but it feels quick. Never thought to uc about it until now but in 4,5 n 6th gear at low revs if you floor it the engine judders. If in 6th gear at low revs between 1300 n 1700 and you floor it its so bad the whole car shakes and the engine managment flickers. Hence when i'm pushin the car on i use the gears and keep the revs above 2000.

Cars now done 13000 miles and needs new set of fronts. Michelin pilots on it just now, but car spins into third in the wet, 2nd in the dry with the traction control on. Any one got any idea of a tyre which gives good grip but performance also. Was thinking about toyos or goodyears.

Sounds like clutch slip.
With a remap the standard clutch can't take the surge in torque when you floor it at very low revs.

Think you need to be a little less aggressive on the accelerator ;)

Welcome btw :D

re clutch slip

You say clutch slip?

It doesn't feel as if the clutch is slipping. It feels more like its over fuelin and thats what seems to cause the judder. As i was saying you never get it in 1,2,3. in fourth at low revs you can just feel it, 5th slighlty more then in 6th as is said at the bottom end the whole car judders and the engine light flashes....never stays on. I just let the throttle of slightly and wait till the revs are up.

i thought it was just the norm after the Superchip was fitted! as long as it doesnt break. Does anyone think it would be worth going back to the company that chipped it. I don't want to look like an idiot 6mnths after it was fitted. I spoke to a mechanic at Seat Bickets in Kilmarnock but he's never heard of that kind of problem.

Any advice.

its your dual mass flywheel juddering.

you shouldnt be booting it under 2k revs.

do you want to kill your clutch and flywheel.

Dont use the accelerator as an on/off switch and keep revs above 2k when booting it.

your car will probs have 300lb/ft of torque and the clutch/flywheel doesnt like it!

A said, basically either put up with it or get a new clutch, sounds like the flywheel though as i had a similar thing, it wasnt a violent judder but it was evident.

i know your saying its your engine management line thats coming on, but could it not be your traction control light? as the traction control will cause a cut of power to your engine, which could feel like a judder, could it be you've not noticed this before until you've had it chipped and its due to the extra torque?

I've never known an engine management light to flicker on and off, but im not familiar with Seat's system, i also dont think a clutch problem would cause any lights to come on.

Take it back mate and get it sorted or taken off and get a better map from Revo/CC/Bell/P torque etc. If it was clutch slip your engine light wouldn`t be coming on. It might be that the rubber in your dual mass flywheel is braking up which is causing the vibration and setting off your engine light. Make sure it is your engine light though as i thought once they light up they stay on until reset. Take it back though and say your not happy and if they cannot change the map to your liking then get it taken off and get a refund as it is damaging your car.

Engine Judder

Cheers for the advice so far... It's defo not the traction control. That comes on all the time! I'm used to driving it now above 2000 revs when pushing it on, but just thought i'd ask some of you seat lovers what you thought.

Hi there,I had the same problem on my VRS which was remapped to 190 bhp and 300 lb of torque. It was ok as long as i kept the revs above 2000 rpm,but say if i was in 5th or 6th just driving slowly and the revs were around this mark or below and i floored it there was alot of juddering and noise which was basically clutch slip, thing is with the TDI engines it will be pushing out 300 + lbs of torque from as low as 2000 rpm and if your in a high gear ie 5th & 6th there is alot of resistance on the engine from the gearbox, basically its harder to turn the wheels so instead it slips the clutch, like i said i tried not to be in high gear at low revs but you could still feel the clutch struggling.I never had the engine light come on though so you could have a problem with the remap, did they set it up on a rolling road or just install new map?,could be something to do with engine under heavy load ie 6th gear low revs and the ecu is not happy with something like boost or fueling.
