Seat Leon fr 1.8tsi fr coolant light keeps

My coolant light keeps coming on every so often,

I have changed the heater matrix also the water pump and it’s still coming on?

Dose anyone have any ideas on what it could be?

it seems to not pressurise until you stop the car turn it off and undo the lid,

I have gone to look again today and the coolant has some kind of particles in it, any ideas?

I believe the presence or otherwise if the silica bag (an absolutely pointless addition IMO) will be indicated on the outside of the header tank. It should be plainly visible too. Not sure when they started adding them in the UK, my 2014 A4 didn't have one, nor my 2018 S3. I must confess I haven't checked my MY2019 (Sept 2020) Ateca yet.

Was this just not a precaution after the introduction of G13 showed signs of early loss of corrosion resistance with certain models, typically cars that would end up the engine running very high temperatures?
I don't think G12+/G12++ or G12EVO needs this in any models.

It is not always plainly visible.
There is a version (my Leon 2015TDI for example) where the silicate repository is within the return hose section on the header tank so it not visible. It says MIT Silicate.
There is also a version - like a 'tea bag' which is the earlier version and like you see on the you tube videos about removing said bag.

Quite possibly, but eventaually, if you change your coolant every 2 years as recommended, you'll get G13. And if you change it every 2 years, you'll not have a problem with silicate depletion

If you buy coolant form VW Group outlets, you should only be getting G12EVO now, I've just bought 12 litres, you can only buy it pre-mixed 50% and in 1litre containers - okay you can also buy 100 or 600litrs containers, but still all premixed.

I looked into buying conc G12EVO or the product from BASF that it in reality is, but so far no one in UK sells it and buying in from Germany adds enough to the price to make me forget that idea. Buying G12EVO from any VW Group dealership parts department costs £7.31 a litre, or is that £7.13, I've forgotten.

Currently there is no aftermarket supplier of that stuff, but I'm sure there will be in time when demand increases, aftermarket is still pushing G12 etc and G13.

Edit:- by the way, where did you find any reference to needing to replace VW Group coolant every 2 years?

Can't recall where the 2 years cam from originally! Probably the local VAG specialist, who admitteldy is very risk averse. But it's cheap enough.

That's what I'll do now I've fitted a new matrix and expansion tank without tea bag. Like the good old days when you just changed your coolant every few years. I know the coolant circuit is more complicated now but after my matrix/expansion tank/water pump/thermostat change, the coolant levels sorted themselves out without a VCDS bleed and been fine for 18 months.
