Seat Leon cupra r brake disc retaining screw

I was changing my spacers on the front yesterday and whilst the wheel was off I noticed that the head of the screw was sheared off , the brake disc was moving about. Bricking it now. My mate reckons that this is not an issue as the disc is held on with the wheel bolts anyway. I was thinking the screw is too small and flimsy to hold the disc but still need to check that the car is safe to drive. The cars feels fine when driving and braking

It'll be fine, a missing little screw isn't going to let the disc fall off, you've got 5x 120Nm worth of strength holding it in place through the wheel bolts. It's only there to secure it for assembly

Makes sense. When my disc was moving I was concerned !

It will only move with the wheel off. As soon as the wheel bolts are through the disc and tightened up, it ain't going anywhere!

All four of mine are the same, I had to drill the heads off to remove the discs when I last changed them. Doesn't cause me any issue.

Yeah my mates have been in similar situations and bricking it and told them the same thing. I've worked on a few cars that don't even have retaining screws on their discs. No way your discs are going to move when the wheels are on tight.

its only a locating screw, just makes the holes line up on the disc easier.

As said above, the small screw is just an assembly aid, stops the disc falling off while you line up the wheel to put the bolts through. The disc is clamped between the wheel and the hub by the bolts, and that joint takes all the stress of acceleration, braking and cornering.
