Doors are common for water leaks on the mk2 Check for water on plastic sill covers when you open the door after the next down poor. Mk2 Leon's have the most ridiculous design in window mechanism which means a lot of water from the door glass is transferred to the back of the interior door panel and runs out the bottom.

Together with Michael's problem I appear to have developed another one. I have discovered that my steering wheel is a bit wet at the bottom. So far I haven't figured out why the water is gathering there as the wheel doesn't appear to be wet on top or on the sides. The only idea I have is condensation after driving the car with heating being on. Go figure...

Have you checked drivers door seal, heard they are notorious for leaking and ends up gathering in the drivers footwell, not sure about the rear but if it was the heater matrix, you'd get the classic sweet smell of antifreeze when you get in the car (provided you have antifreeze in and not just straight water)

I'm having a similar issue at the moment but on the passenger side. It's soaking right up high in the footwell like behind the glovebox, high enough that I'm sure it's coming from the Windscreen or that sort of area. Someone advised me on a FB group that I take the scuttle panel off where the water from the windscreen drains through. It's supposed to channel water down through the wheel arches on either side. When I raised my scuttle panel I had thick black sludge everywhere and loads of leaves and cobwebs etc. Water was still able to come through, but not very well. Removed all visible debris and wiped the sludge away and water is flowing so much better now. I'm thinking that over some real bad weather periods this has leaked into the car as it hasn't drained quick enough. Probably didn't notice it getting worse and worse. I'm hoping that's all it was. About to remove my passenger side carpets tomorrow and clear with a VAX suction cleaner then I will monitor mine. If you haven't already I'd have a look at this, worth a shot.

Hi I had same issue took to VAG specialist when had water pump and Cambelt done he said it was the AC drainage pipe out of place also the water drainage holes on the bottom of the windscreen could be blocked up so rain water and windscreen washer fluid has no where to run out and drips down from behind the centre console and down from above the pedals into the footwell. So worth getting both things checked out! A lot of debris leaves etc clog up the drain holes along the plastic at the bottom of the windscreen give it a good clean out and run some water down it to see if it is that I had both issues. Still get a bit of water in the footwell when I use the windscreen washer as the holes clog up often in winter due to leaves etc so it’s a constant thing to keep an eye on and keep clean.
