Hi All,

I'm considering purchasing a new Ibiza Cupra, Seem to have a gotten a great deal at the dealer for £15500 for a new factory order.

My only problem is I do alot of miles per year 20k-25k, i know the promoted MPG figures from seat are 47.1MPG, could some owners tell me the true MPG that they achieve daily.

This will really hope my make a good decision.

Thanks ALL

I get on average driving (30-35) around town few quick sprints, motorway is alot better because at 70mph the car sits just over 2000 rpm

My average is almost always above 40. On a good long drive I can get as much as 48, whilst the worst I would ever really see is around 38 about town.

Ibiza Cupra MPG

Hi there, I too drive approx 20k a year and drive a 10 plate Cupra.
I find that the MPG with mine tends to be about 39 to 44 obviously depending on my right foot, I also found that putting cheap petrol in it worsened the economy so I now put in the more expensive grades which does improve MPG. Just be sure to check your oil regularly as they do use a little.
Hope you enjoy your new car

I usually average around 37, though my driving encounters a lot of hills and needless roundabouts on the drive into town, which are fun but do hit economy if you rag it away from them regularly. Sitting on an empty single carriageway for 100 miles at 60 recently, I managed to achieve 47.2 but this is a) really boring and b) not the manner in which this car was intended to be driven.

Third Mk 5 Ibiza Cupra with the 1.4 twincharded engine and with a 60 mile round trip to work, mostly motorway, I average 33 MPG.
I am no slouch off the lights nor on the motorway and usually do 85/90 MPH.

Even when running in at a sedentary 2-2.5K revs/70 MPH on motorway, I never saw more than high thirties.

If you want fuel economy, either buy a diesel, drive like Miss Daisy, but don't buy a Cupra.

I had the 1.2 tsi fr before my cupra and can quite easily get better mpg with the cupra than the fr, but I guess everyone has their own driving style.

anything over 60mph will start using more fuel because it takes more power to push the car through the air,on a twisty coast drive of around 60 miles doing 40/50/60's I managed to average at 50mpg exactly, but on my morning commute of 6 miles with stopping and starting i'll struggle to see past 25mpg

My recent trip to Silverstone saw me do 704 miles on one and a half tanks of fuel

I have had two of the 1.4 TSI twinchargers, and the latest one which was quicker still got an av of 35 MPG. My journeys were mostly short or quick (or both) and if when at my work I took it easy from one office to another (Edin to Glasgow) I once got 55. I only use cheap Asda fuel, as I never noticed any diff in other fuels.

The 1.4 is recommended for use with higher octane fuel for a good reason, it prevents long term engine wear and a few other things. For what it's worth, I have noticed the difference the couple of times I've had to put a drop of supermarket fuel in - the car feels more sluggish to accelerate and revs less keenly. I see it as a £2 per tank investment in a nicer driving experience and reliability. I'm not keeping my car beyond the finance period but if I were then I'd definitely be even more conscious of the engine wear issue on lower octane fuel.
