Hi,

My Seat Ibiza 6J is making too much noise...
Is this sound normal?
youtube.com/watch?v=S4KlnQaL_MI
It sounds like a diesel!!!

What could it be?

Thank you!

If there is no eml/epc light on then yes, how many miles have you done?

Take it to the dealer have the fault memory read and see if its got a fault stored if not then, have a look at the engine bay see if the air filter is okay and check if there is any petrol in the oil if thats fine then go to the dealer as to borrow a technician for 5 minutes

I did not notice anything unusual in that video clip, these engines are a bit rough sounding, probably a lot rougher than the previous 1.4 16V engines like the BBY 75PS engine for example. They make a lot of noise when driving but seem to work a lot better than the earlier ones. I was in a work mate's Jeep Compass and it has a petrol engine - now that really sounds like a diesel engine. I thinking about buying my wife a Polo with that engine, though the Polo will have enough soundproofing to cover up that noise - I hope!

The thing is, modern engines do not always sound smooth as it is expected that the soundproofing will cover up most of the noise, my 2011 Audi S4 3.0TFSI (V6), sounds rougher when standing at the front of the car with the bonnet open, than my previous 2000VW Passat 2.8 V6, I suppose that is progress!

I found this video:

You can only compare the first 5 seconds of this video but it looks similar doesn't it?

That sounds like the noise it makes when you've just turned the engine off and then tried to turn it on straight away with out a 15second gap

On the battery there should be a little eye, if its black the battery's good, if its white then the battery is knackered and maybe the starter motor, I'd go get a battery check

I might be wrong, but I thought the "magic eye" is meant to be green when you shine a light on it, if black then battery is goosed - well that is the way it used to be.

New video...
Please just take a look at the video and help me undestand if something is wrong with the engine. 01:35, 02:55 and 03:35
Also the car lately sometimes it's hard to start... What could it be? Battery?

Again, to be honest, all these video clips you have posted don't contain any noises I would be worried about, these engines are a lot quieter than the old 1.4 8V engines in the MK3 Ibizas - they really did sound like a box of bits trying to escape - but still ran okay. At least some of the MK Ibizas had a full engine cover/air cleaner assembly to kill the noise a bit.

Please check the sound the car does when it doesn't start. Could that be battery?
The "eye" is black.

The battery mentions white black and yelow but i can't read it all because it is covered
