Hi,
It's insurance renewal time and last year an insurance quote for my 2013 Seat Ibiza 1.2 TSI FR DSG (105bhp and only mod being factory fitted parking sensors) with just me driving was under £200 (18 yrs NCB, 6000 miles per year, part of a multicar policy with other cars).
Having done an online quote, it's coming out around £400 for this car!
Now if I quote myself like-for-like (with exactly the same mileage etc) on other makes of cars as theoretical replacement I get:-
- 2015 Mini Cooper S Auto with engine chipped to 207bhp: £165
- 2015 Audi S5 Sportback: £260
- 2015 Audi TT: £250
- 2013 Jaguar F-Type V6S: £280
- 2013 Range Rover Evoque: £230
- 2010 Porsche 911 C2S: £260
So my question is, is it just me or are the insurance companies seeing the Seat Ibiza as an extremely high risk car this year?? - I really can't see why it should be almost double that of much higher performance and risk cars...
Any ideas what's going on, should I change cars to save on insurance costs?!!
