Afternoon chaps,

Just bought a second hand seat ibiza 1.2 ecomotive 2 months ago 80k on clock. Today I got a warning light with the ECS illuminated, The glow plug flashing and the stop start said error.

Took it into a local specialist that ran the diagnostic which came back with the error code:

14126 - Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor; B1 S3

P242A 00 [175] - Malfunction

Says its a sensor issue and the part alone will cost £238. Anyone any ideas if this sounds a good price?

cheers

Well trying to be helpful(maybe), I've assumed that your engine type code is CFWA, if so, NTK Stock Number 95352 is being sold by Opie Oils for £84.40, alternatively you could squander up to £135 for one on Ebay!

So check what model type your engine is, with that, look up the NGK website and find the correct sensor for that engine, then maybe order one up from Opie Oils - and get an honest garage to fit your supplied spare part?

Edit:- of course it could be that what I've priced up is the S1 sensor, and you will need to find another manufacturer for the S3 sensor. I'll check up the parts cat if you get back with an engine type code.

Another Edit:- it seems that B1 S3 is 3L0 906 088HE and that part can be bought online for roughly £105, but as always, check engine type before committing to buying anything.

Cheers buddy, I will check out the websites that you suggested and double check with the garage. Much appreciated. Thanks Again.

Just thought I would update this issue. Shopped about to get a good price on this sensor issue. The garage had to remove the exhaust to get access to the sensor (B1 S3) . It had welded itself to the exhaust and the thread had to be re tapped. Being right next to the DPF it could have been a lot worse.

On another note if you do get the same warning lights I got dont drive it around as it will affect the DPF which alone I believe is 1-2k to fix.
