Looking to put the original head unit (5201 RDS Infomat-made by Grundig) back in my '99 8v.

There are a few reasons for this, I don't like the Sony unit which is currently in, am sick of unclipping the front, I like the car to be totally standard, and I want scum thieves to look in and see a 'sh1t' tape player and jog on.

The SEAT original is a radio/tape player which can control a CD changer.

There are plenty of VAG changers to choose from on eBay, but how can I tell which ones will be compatible with the minimum of fuss?

Any help much appreciated. D.

C K, I have just had a look at the head unit and the sockets on the back are rectangle and square.

Is the round connector you mention at the changer end or is the head unit I have the later square connector type you mention?

Square connector goes into the head unit and the round one into the changer.
Some Smart cars also have the MCD36 changer as that's where I got mine for my old car from!
